Love the interior, very mid-century modern to me. One of my favorite architectural styles. The 4G Tacoma looks like a kid who grew up playing with Transformers designed it.

Yeh I prefer the new Land Cruiser interior to the lager screen Tacoma.

It looks like the Rivian can show the GPS on the display right in front of the steering wheel. That’s smart.

Read my post , the pro will not be 120k in Canada lol so no you're wrong based on what I wrote . Maybe cheaper in the US , pro would be cheaper if I had to pick between the 2

Not trying to pick on you SG, but I have seen this repeated a ton here and it just isn't true. If you look back in just the last 20 years or so, it wasn't until some point in the run of 3rd gens that Toyotas became more expensive than some others. Particularly Ford was more expensive. Once the other midsizers left the market, Toyota moved their pricing up because they could.

I specifically looked at 2000, 2010, and 2020 pricing in looking this up.

I know in '16 when I bought my truck, the Gm twin I almost bought cost more than my Tacoma and I couldn't fathom why anyone would do that.

In 2008 when I bought my FJ, the Jeep I considered was almost 3k more than my FJ.

I just think there is some revisionist history going on here.

Here in the US where we live an off-road with the highest option package and a few accessories added is $58K. A Pro with it’s hybrid system, better suspension, bouncy seats plus all the PRO BS stuff like tail gate, grille, etc is going to be easily mid to high $60K range. Add on dealer markups which it will definitely have and you’re well into Rivian territory.

Yes it is, wish they took the Tacoma more that direction. Went 3 steps forward in some areas and 3 steps back in others. Which weighs in on purchasing decisions.

looks that way, yeah very smart. Didn’t get to play much with the one I was in, maybe next time. Still too much coin for what it is, can think of loads of other things to spend money on. End of the day it just a dumb vehicle to haul our asses around, ya know? Quite content with my poverty trim SR Taco, does everything I need it to do.

You can't claim any of this without knowing the Toyota price . Not disagreeing but they may be about the same
What is the price of a Chevy bison fully loaded down there?

No worries, I have thick skin. We humans have different perceptions. :)

After owning them for 30+ years, I always paid a little more than the competition. There was a short period of time not too long ago when they cost more than a half ton. Which we might be seeing those days again with the way prices are going. Seeing some deep cuts for the fullsizes, and mid-sizes continue to climb.

My buddy with the F350 makes fun of me that I paid exactly the same for my Tacoma as what he did, he also works for Ford and gets a discount. It’s all relative.

When I was looking at the Rangers for the ‘21 MY, the Ford was a couple grand cheaper, plus had some options on it than that I couldn’t get in a comparable Tacoma SR. Mainly available rear locker in the XL and a more powerful engine.

The thing with cars/trucks is that there is what you need and what you want. As SG often says, an SR would meet all of our "needs". But "the heart wants what it wants" (quoting Emily Dickinson, not woody Allen when he was justifying pedophilia).

So really, it's irrelevant whether you think one trim level or manufacturer's model is overpriced, people will buy what they like. Mods, close the thread.

Trail Hunter hybrid might be pushing $70K. Especially with ADM.

Tundra Pros were going over $100K here. Dealers were slapping lifts and 37s on them.

Trade in on a F350 with the diesel H.O. 1200 ft-lbs, and get all the torques.

560 TQ….pffffft, child’s play, might as well piss into the wind with that weak sauce. :D

Dealers are going to add $5-10K markup to the Pros because they are “rare”. You don’t think that will put them in the $70K range? The Rivian also has potential for thousands in tax credits.

If they do that's fucking ridiculous. I'm expecting 70k in Canada but not the US

    Yep.

All of our comfort levels are different.

I can see why you want Pro, worked hard all your life, and now want to treat yourself. I get it. My grandfather grew up in rural West Virginia as a coal miner, got out of that, became successful and was driving Mercedes the latter half of his life.

Hell, for basic transportation we all could get by with the cheapest car that is available.
