805 Tacoma Tuning and a Santa Barbara customer were finally able to tie the knot.

Nate, aka @4r.nate, on Instagram hit us up yesterday afternoon when he identified a last-minute opportunity that worked well for him to stop by and get his built 2012 4Runner dialed in with a KDMAX Pro tune.

It worked out well for us as well, so we told him to come on by. Due to his current and future build plans, we decided to set him up with our Sport throttle option and sent him out for his test drive.

Upon return, we observed his fiancé had commandeered the drivers seat and claimed the vehicle as her own!

Needless to say, they both loved the way the vehicle now performs.

We enjoyed working together with them.

@805 Tacoma Tuning, Tom, totally pleased.

Been having fun getting to know the new Taco’s tune/drivability. Which obviously means getting crazy with the throttle. Can’t help it. With that said, I gassed up yesterday with a 15.341G fill at 303 miles. With 5.659 gallons left, a full tank “probably” would have averaged out to 414 miles. Fucking stoked given I’ve been on the throttle HEAVY D style so that the trans ecm re-learns my driving habits, and also having fun with the 3.5, just can’t help wanting to hear the little V6’s rumble across the redline.

So much looking forward to testing a full tank with normal driving. The Taco is such a pleasure to drive in the city/highway.

805 Tacoma Tuning hit the streets this morning, rain and all, to bring a 2023 Tacoma, @the805local, and @jenn_walsh on Instagram into the KDMAX family!

As if this wasn't cool enough .. Jenn set Chris up with this tune as a gift!

Welcome, guys!

It was a lot of fun setting up their truck in the garage while their kiddos worked diligently to get their off-road ATC up and running! Pro tip: Cleaning carburetors with your kiddos beats sitting inside all day while it rains.

Once again, it seems that we found the right fit for Chris. Our normal throttle option suits his driving style well while optimizing his vehicles performance.

Upon return from their test drive, he stated with a big grin “ That’s rad! There is so much more power, and it shifts normally now!” – Chris

Jay, a past customer, sold his original truck to pick up a 2022 TRD long bed. After a month of driving “stock” he was ready for another KDMAX tune.

After test driving it he came back to settle up and I had another random Taco owner stop by. I let Jay testify to the tunes ability to correct all the normal issue.

Hopefully James will follow up and become a new KDMAX customer!

Also Christie a local Lawn Care business owner had found my business card on her truck. She contacted me and we worked out a time to meet. After the tune test drive she said “if I knew the tune was this good I would have done it sooner!”

If your waiting to get KDMAX’d wait no longer it is the cure for what ails these truck!

 

805 Tacoma Tuning was lucky enough to get together with a very cool individual last night.

Michael came all the way out to see us from Santa Clarita. We talked in depth about the tuning process, life, and, of course, rad vehicles.

After completing the tuning process, we set Michael out for his test drive utilizing our normal throttle setting.

We can say confidently that we have another very happy KDMAX customer in the family now.

Two things I noticed yesterday, ETC/sport mode makes ALSD a lot more efficient. It activates better and sooner when 4 wheeling. And cruising at or past 80mph gets very good mileage. Very little pedal input. Flat and no headwind, but damn impressive. Good stuff.

FYI
I have had a few calls recently from people using the old Stock files (89663 04B04 STOCK.vfc) in VFtuner to flash back to stock for selling their truck and smog testing. When doing this it will brick your ECU and only a bench flash can recover it. You must use the new stock files that were fixed by Vftuner. They are in the supported vehicles folder for the 3.5L Tacoma and look like this.

 

So I cleaned the MAF and so far I don't really see any difference. I haven't gone through a whole tank yet, but based on the computer it's still around 18mpg when in the past (v.7) I would routinely be over 20 and sometimes 22-24/tank. Since the upgrade to v10 over the summer I have not seen 20mpg. I'll wait to see how it goes after we are back to normal (not winter) gas.

I don't know how or why a reflash would change anything but willing to give that try and summer gas doesn't fix the issue.

Tooooom, WOOOOOOW. BTW, a great family guy fellas. Total pleasure hanging with this hometown.

The Normal/Sport+ mode. S+ on the 14 was The Kind. Great power when needed. I didn’t let a Ranger rolling fast from behind pass me Great downshifts/rpm range.

And……..my favorite hold on moment was just past Mojave. I was tuning Elming’s Southern Cal hot rod when I decided to test this function on the way out on the gravel road after a successful tune on the Husky….4LO/Sport+/TRAC OFF……THE BEST FUCKING 3rd GEN RUSH ON THE PLANET FOR TACOMA KD “Powerglide” tune users!!!!!!

Not condoning this whatsoever, but if you want to give a V8 a hard time in the rain…do the above. The launch is a VERY AGGRESSIVE LAUNCH, yet smooth and phenomenal.
