Another mod done before we hit the road today.

 

I think the 2/1 would be perfect anyways. Anything bigger just makes you want to go to 37s and there goes any chance of conservative mpg. Plus if it turns tow rig for the Tacoma, that mpg already gonna be lacking.

I’m undecided on sequoia lift. Suspension as a whole is 21! Years old and needs to be replaced. When I do decide, you wanna give me a hand? It’s been southern vehicle its entire registration so I’m not too worried about rusty bolts.

 

I’ll have to email you or dm on instagram about my 1st gen sequoia project. Nothing crazy like my old Tacoma!

Rained all day yesterday ended up getting 1.07 in. Today is only a 40% chance today but more tomorrow. Then winter weather is back for Sunday night and Monday.

RADAR CHECK: We have some scattered light rain mainly over South Alabama early this morning, otherwise the sky is cloudy with temperatures in the 55-65 degree range just before sunrise. A few periods of rain are possible through tonight across the state, but it won’t rain all day, and the rain won’t be especially heavy. The weather stays very mild with highs in the 65-72 degree range this afternoon.

THE WEEKEND: Wet weather is likely tomorrow morning, followed by a midday break in the rain. Then, as a cold front pushes into the state, a line of showers and thunderstorms is expected to progress eastward. SPC has defined a “slight risk” (level 2/5) of severe thunderstorms in the broad zone from Birmingham and Gadsden south to Mobile and Andalusia. A “marginal risk” (level 1/5) covers the rest of the state.



This is basically a conditional severe weather threat; severe storms are possible if there is the air can recover from the morning batch of rain, and surface based instability becomes available. The main threat will come from strong winds, although a brief, isolated tornado or two is possible. The line of storms will move into West Alabama around noon, and should be out of the state by 7:00 p.m. It will be another mild day with highs in the upper 60s and low 70s.

Additional rain amounts will be in the 1-2 inch range across Alabama through tomorrow evening, and a flood watch remains in effect for many counties.



Sunday will be mostly cloudy and much cooler… temperatures will hold in the 40s over the northern third of the state with some patchy light rain possible. South Alabama should see some sun by afternoon with a high in the 50s.

NEXT WEEK: At this point most of the week looks dry, although global models suggest some scattered light rain could be possible Tuesday night and Wednesday as an upper trough passes through. ON THIS DATE IN 1772: Possibly the greatest snowfall ever recorded in the Washington DC area started on this day. When the storm began, Thomas Jefferson was returning home from his honeymoon with his new bride, Martha Wayles Skelton. The newlyweds made it to within eight miles of Monticello before having to abandon their carriage in the deep snow. Both finished the ride on horseback in the blinding snow. The newlyweds arrived home late on the night of January 26th. In Jefferson’s “Garden Book,” he wrote, “the deepest snow we have ever seen. In Albermarle, it was about 3. F. deep.”

ON THIS DATE IN 1940: Alabama and the Deep South were in the deep freeze, and much of our state was snow covered. The low on January 26, 1940 in Birmingham was 1 degree

How's the ice skating business going for ya? Keeping afloat with all that cold weather up there?

 

Not bad. We only had one weekly customer have trouble. His pump quit, but we were able to get the equipment drained enough not to freeze. Two customers that we do service call on had equipment damaged. So all in all, not bad.
How did your neck of the woods fair?

 

That's good. It didn't get to the freezing point here, so no problem.

 

I think I have asked yall this before. But what is everyone's opinions on UCAs? I'm feeling a little wiggle in my upper ball joint and just want to go to a full aftermarket set. I like the SPCs and JBA, both seem to have really good track record and are in roughly the same price range. Thoughts, Any others I should look at?

 

Get what you can afford that has the best track record.

I went SPC just cause it had more adjustability and slightly high ball joint angle

 

Same here although had to replace bushings and ball joint after 60k. That said the difference in adjustability of allignments is great.
