Hearing a whole lot of "can't" going on here. We know you can do the Tim Taylor thing and give it more power. It's like you're not even trying. :(

    You are correct.
I don’t have any room for a SBC lawn mower build.

A friend reached out recently and asked if I could help replace a failing sump pump. Went over yesterday afternoon to help with a simple swap out. It was hard plumbed to 1.5" PVC, but there was enough flex/movement to do the exchange. The pipe went up about 4' from the pump, then over about 20', then down into a Y on the main house drain (city sewer). All supported from brackets/hangers. While swapping the pump, the PVC felt heavy. Upon further inspection we discovered that the entire run of pipe was clogged with clay based sediment. YIKES!!

Ended up replacing everything all the way to the Y in the main drain line. Got home around midnight.

Sump plumbed into the main drain? I hope to Hell they're on city sewer. Mine was plumbed into the septic lines which is a big no-no.

I guess that's sorta ok. Municipalities typically don't like you doing that, but I doubt anybody knows whats going on in their basement...

That's how it was when she bought the house 8 yrs ago. When I had mine installed by a plumber 10+ years ago, he tied it into the main house drain.

Must be a state-by-state thing. My husband’s old house down in MA had the sump piped to the city lines and when the place got inspected they forced him to rectify it.

But also, holy shit those pipes were clogged up. o_O
