There's cool and there's cellphone on the belt cool.
I've used NB on occasion good for all day on the feet. Not sure about better but I've been using Salomon X Ultra Pioneer. A rock climing/hiker. I'm up down and all around.
They form fit, waterproof and add a little toe protection.

Use caution to all of you welcoming squatters. You never know what kind if weirdos might show.
    Muhuhuhaha

Not trying to bad rap them, most of my shoes are New balance. I've had two family members work for them over the years and for the most part I've never had a new balance shoe I didn't like.

    I've always liked New Balance.
I've just seen things on the (reliable)internet mocking them and cargo shorts as be out of style and for old people.

Well, us old guys are supposedly out of style, along with everything we wear and do. Then again, we have enough life experience to just not give a shit.

    :duh:

Old guys have been walking around on those feet for many years. They know what's comfortable.
    Comfort over style.
Merrell's make some comfy all day shoes. I own a couple pair of the Merrell's.

Just reserved 3 by the playground. Definitely not because of my daughter though. I've just had my eye on those monkey bars since my first trip there :p

I'm hanging with Dan on site 148 for Wyalusing.

Unfortunately I'm not sure I'll be able to make it out to Tigerton for that August weekend, but it's for a pretty awesome reason... Just learned yesterday that my daughter (high school junior) was accepted for a summer session program at Stanford University! It's an 8 week program that ends that weekend in August. She will earn up to 8 credits and have a good foot in the door if she decides that she'd like to apply there after high school. Not here to brag, but it was pretty huge proud dad moment learning this yesterday. :D

Of course this program is faaaaarr from free, so truck mod priorities will shift significantly. I'm okay with that.

I've owned a few pair of New Balance shoes. A few years ago I was looking for a good pair of trail runners and stopped into the local New Balance store. I found a pair I liked for $170, but wasn't excited about the color for that price. The sales guy told me they weren't made in any other colors. Bought em anyway. When I got home, not only did I find them in half a dozen other colors, they were also $80 on Amazon! I went back to the store to return them. When asked why I was returning them I said because that guy over there lied to me about your product and I could get 2 pair and lunch for what you guys are charging. I'm all for supporting a "local" store over Amazon, but this is highway robbery. Not one more word was spoken to me as I left the store. Vowed not to give them my business any longer.

Since then I've had a couple pair of Brooks and liked them, but found that they went flat much sooner than I liked for the cost. I'm not a big dude.

Last 2 pair of trail runner style shoes I've gotten are from Altra. Love em! It's a different kind of shoe with "natural fit" wider toe boxes and they're zero drop, meaning the heel isn't higher than the toe. It takes a bit of getting used to and you'll feel it a bit in your calves initially, but my knee and back issues seem to bother me a hell of a lot less.

I know I'm the odd duck here but hands down the most comfortable shoes I have especially for standing on concrete floors all day are my Thorogood wedge sole moc toe boots.
Made in Wisconsin, durable, and resoleable. If the soles didn't suck in the mud and snow I wouldn't need dedicated hikers.

People make fun of cargo shorts until they need something like a 3/8 ratchet or a pulled pork sandwich.
Cargo shorts be like, you worry about making friends, I got your stuff.

I have a pair of the Lone Peak 7 that I was pretty rough on and I thought they held up pretty well, but they are now yard work shoes. Currently rocking the Lone Peak 8, and although I liked the look of the 7s better, the 8s are great. Haven't worn them for a while as with the sloppy weather I was wearing boots (Oboz boots, BTW, are my daily drivers now and I would recommend them to anyone as well) but had them on today.

Sorry (not sorry) but I tend to do a lot of research and shopping around when it comes to things that you wear daily like shoes, eyeglasses and underwear, and these are the things I'm always willing to spend a little more on to enhance my life just a bit.
