This is no different than the deal with eggs years ago.
First they were good for you. Things you need in them.
Then they were bad for you. Science says so.
Then they were good again. Science & studies got it wrong.
Now they are a "use with caution" thing. LOL

The steps are the same way.
They "thought" 10 k was essential to good health.
NOW they say that was not true, its "too many" for most people in the age group that are trying to do them... Joints, feet, hips...

Real is they still don't have a clue & everybody is different with different results.

I just try to stay busy & moving ... Not eat too much crap too often & go from there.
When I wear the counter? Always over 10k when was working, still usually over now that retired.
A low day is still up in the 8k range.

Enjoy life & do what you can, but don't worry if you have a recovery day!

 

My doc says eggs are fine in moderation, the frying in bacon grease is the hiccup

 

That's why I use butter

 

This ^^^. Just get some exercise and eat well with lots of colored veggies. How many people are blindly following some billionaire "routine" to make them successful. Killing the planet by making so many damn ice cubes to take their ice bath.

Got my walk in today with my dog. Was out there about 7:30. It was misty but in the 40s, so no problem.

 

I don't think I heard of the 10,000 step thing as a movement. I was a serious backpacker up to 2000 and was interested how many miles I was doing a day at work. I move around a lot regardless of the weather. Shane D use to make me look like a nursing home punk at work and I needed to pick up my game. I did. LOL

Used to backpack up to 6 years ago. When I got out of scouting I stopped. Wish I hadn't. Now I have to get back to hiking again, and it ain't easy.

I constantly see the same "it will add years to your life" vs "it will kill you tomorrow" debate about coffee. Caffeine is either the Devil or the Savior, depending on the author of which article you read. I am going to die someday, no matter what "shape" I am in. While I'm still alive, I am going to enjoy my life the best I can, and leave others to do the same. It's all one big fuster cluck, so get the most out of it that you can.

 

Philmont started my obsession. Age ended it. LMAO
I hiked the AT from 25 miles north of MD/PA line south into NC over about 6 years. Almost 600 miles.

I'm continuing work on my new Ark. The heavy rains are back here again this afternoon.....

 

It sucks really bad when you fall ask me how I know. With Colt, not being a very stealthy GSD, we pan for gold, ice fish and fish from the boat saves on fights.

 

Great Idea. Just like the freakin goat yoga. But before I reveal it I get a 10% royalty.
