... which reminds me

There's one topic in the 3rd Gen forum that's a true hardy perennial.
Thrash it, tear it up by the roots, and it keeps coming back.
You know what I mean:

"The Tacoma is a Dog" (or some variation on the theme)

The 2.0L engine in my 1974 Pintosaurus Wagon made all of 86 horsepower.
That's right, 86 HP

I could get maybe 25 mpg (considered very good at the time) or so if I was careful.
It still ran okay at 100k when I unloaded it.

 

Voted, my 1.5 Turbo screams.

My first vehicle in 1978 had a Chevy 396 . Serial numbers ground off the motor
It was in a 67 Ford F100 . I think I got 10 mpg , speedometer and odometer did not work . Never got a ticket in it .

 

My 2017 GTI with the 2.0L turbo and 6 speed manual was a hoot to drive! I still miss it, but I had my fun for 3 years and decided to have a nice 4WD truck. I have no problems with turbocharged engines if they're done correctly. VW seems to be one of the few who did it right. The 1.4 turbo in grandmothers Jetta is also a blast to drive.

Not sure what the new 2.4 turbo is gonna be like in the new Tacoma. Likely never know, I actually plan to keep my V6 manual truck for a while. Despite being slower than a snail with a hard on. New trucks are too damn expensive.

Everyone still criticizes me for all the vehicle swapping I've done in the past 5 years, but whatever. I don't go out and party, go on expensive vacations, etc, etc. I'll splurge on something nice to drive. I have made money on the past couple of trucks anyways. That said, I'm done for a while. My truck is optioned exactly how I want it.

last Feb whilst STILL werkin @ a ferd-n-hi-unduh dealer, after watchin all the small displacement turbo cars come in with issues, we opted for a different manufacturer and didn't take advantage of the employee discounts. normally aspirated for me...turbo inna diesel ? fine, i had 3 in the past and they were wunnerfull...
