Yep, think the same for Porsche’s, Vettes, etc….why buy it if not going to drive it as intended??? See plenty of that every day, guys and gals poking around driving slow. That shit needs to be hammered upon, why buy one if you’re gonna to obey traffic laws, seems silly.

I ride a Beta, they even market it as a play trail bike. :) They do have a race version, but I don’t own that one. Have the Enduro which is short for Endurance.

Don’t like any badging at all. I’ll even cut the tags off my clothing. Top Gear had a great little snippet on badging and the office culture being a way to show social rank. It was quite hilarious.

Maybe because you were military you care about all that stuff, I certainly don’t.

The Marines are the least "generous" with awards and badges and the ones you do get, don't come easy.

I am not into rewards or medals, dunno just never have. My one grandfather never even talked about his military service, was quite the humble man. Didn’t even know he was in WWII until my grandmother passed, and we were helping him clean the house. Found all of his records and medals in the bottom drawer of a dresser under some sweaters. Even after that, he wouldn’t talk about it, and stashed all that stuff away out of sight.

Some guys need to display accomplishments, others don’t. As they say to each their own. One grandfather was humble, the other liked to display his wealth. I liked the humble one better.

At least after those 3 years with Recon you were able to find a more comfortable seat.

Porsches are ridiculously comfortable if you don’t go crazy and option firm suspension and seats so they are great for driving long distances, even if you never drive them aggressively.

Wouldn’t mind getting my hands on this. Nice shot of the non-suspension seat there at the end. :)

Why do you care so much about what everyone else thinks? Just buy what you want. Stop trying to justify it here with us morons.

They directly market Pro at desert racer wannabes, even have Ivan Stewart’s old race truck along side it. Hell, if anyone should buy one it should be me, but not into racing anymore. Maybe I need to change my profile pic? Lol!

They need to market to a middle aged guy who needs a long bed and short cab without a dumb spoiler that can take a topper. Don’t need a turbo either.

I miss humble practical Toyota, wish they put more R&D into fuel efficiency instead of going after the chest thumping Bro market. Wouldn’t mind a turbo if it was attached to a diesel.

We have a REVO Hilux in Bangkok since we need passenger space. I don’t think it’s worse than a 3rd gen.

Just scrolled through the available R1Ts on the rivian site. Just like most manufacturers, the starting price is complete bullshit. There was one truck on there listed at 79k, all the rest were 85-105k.

I’m glad Toyota is having more fun with its lineup these days, it’s better for enthusiast. Any production street legal car (including super cars) is a far cry from a real race car. That doesn’t mean the guy who buys a 918 is a racer wannabe. Theres a reason why SCORE still has a stock class. Toyota has won with the tundra, and that’s a testament to a lot of the stock components. The pro or any taco with a nice suspension setup like that is still a blast off-road and still rides on road better than any other model. There’s a reason raptors are so popular, they’re fun. Not to mention that shock tech wouldn’t exist without Baja. Being a gatekeeper of fun is lame.

I'd love to have a new midsize regular cab truck with the amenities of a 2nd gen Tacoma. No display screen and manual HVAC controls, and power nothing.

Do you really just want a cheaper truck? The amenities of the 4G are nice it's just expensive.

Other than the radio you wouldn't need to use the display screen for any function a 2d gen offered and the HVAC controls are manual. Even the dinosaur LC70 Toyota offers elsewhere has a display screen and power windows. Pining for model Ts isn't going to bring them back. People expect more now even from a "basic" truck.

Are you looking for something to use as a daily driver and weekend traveling/road trips or just to have a utility truck? Or less tech = less cost? Not saying what you want is wrong, but new car/truck buyers want "new" stuff. Price conscious buyers who don't care about new features tend to buy used. Toyota doesn't make money selling used vehicles.

Weren't all of Ivan Stewart's trucks 2WD? Shouldn't they have used his truck to show case the reintroduction of the PreRunner?

I want new motor and suspension but rather have 1st gen interior and tech if price was much less. I'm just not sure how much the cost would be? Could toyota bascially build a SR with full motor, looks and pro suspension? for 45k? I'd take that than I could have manual too.
