Best AT tire in rain for tacoma offroad?

I have a 2021 tacoma offroad 4wd. Stock tire says size 265/70R16. I read good reviews on Michelin LTX AT2 but looks like they dont sell in my size. Any other suggestions?

Falken AT3W/AT4W would be my first choice. You want a soft tire that's designed for wet and cold. Standard load is a must.

LTX AT2 has a lot of good reviews but I always see them wearing funny. I'd never consider them personally.

Oddly, the factory goodyears with the offroad do quite well in the cold wet, its a shame they are so bloody expensive and don't really match up to competition.

 

i should say i live in the northeast. 95% of driving is highway/city pavement. i do a trip or two out west each year which is some gravel/dirt roads but in middle of nowhere and its my vacation so i dont wanna get stuck or a flat if i can help it. i am not aggressive offroad but its also not pavement.

For slick conditions I really like the XL or SL Toyo ATIIIs. Falkens have good traction but I really did not like them for plentiful other reasons.

 

I run the stock GY Wrangler AT 265/70R16 here in Germany with lots of rain, snow and ice recently. Very happy with the tires, would recommend and will get again when these are worn down.

it blew away the Coopers I tried next. I am now back to the Michelin LTX AT2. I got them a Costco.

 

For your driving I would not consider anything but the Michelin Defender LTX M/S and they do have 265/70/16. These are by far the best tires I have ever owned and have used them since 1997 on a Ranger STX 4x4 and my 4th gen 4runner. I have never gotten less than 100k miles out of them ( live in MN so the winters make for a few extra miles on the tires life). They are great in the snow, rain and dry pavements and were better on ice than the sipped Bridgestones I once had. I went with a more aggressive tire for my Taco to try something different, but I might go back to the Defender for better gas mileage.

 

Yes, they were my go to for 20 years. Went with a A/T one size over stock for the first time ever on my 2020 2 years ago. Love the looks and the performance has been not bad in all conditions so far.

 

Super Swampers are always the answer. The deep lug tread can divert the rain water away from your contact patch.

Another vote for the AT3W. I love them in the snow/rain/off-road (Sierra Nevada mountains/desert terrain).

The factory Wrangler Kevlar marked tires got punctured each time I went off road. The tread just isn't up to the task. But they did well on ice during the winter.

The best tire is the one at a decent price, good manufacturer, good warranty. BJs usually does me right and I usually end up with Michelin ltx I believe.

 

I am really happy with my Toyo Open Country AT III's. They have been problem free for me here on the wet coast of BC. They even handle these new atmospheric rivers of rain we started getting.

 

my vote is yokohama geolander a/t. consistent grip, with fairly reliable and consistent breakaway. it's one of tire racks highest rated white-lettered tires in rain and snow conditions
