which kit (front end specifically) will give you more wheel travel when paired with a light race UCA?

IIRC, The OME has a little longer shock stroke. The others are OEM replacement length.

had to google iirc....lol. Thanks Chris!

Is that what's putting the dent in the Toytec percent up there? I liked the adjust ability idea but a little more wheel travel up front might out weigh that....for me.

I did read about the valving in here a bit also :)

The Toytec adjustable shocks arent that easy to adjust. After the wrenches bend a few times, and your knuckles are broken, the non adjustable shocks look like a good idea.

The 5100's that we use in the coilovers are indeed a longer shock than stock length. Also, we use our aluminum top mount that is thicker which increases the shock length as well.

Coilovers in general are not something that is really easy to adjust regardless of the brand. A cheater pipe and a friend to help makes it a lot easier.

Pioneer Double Din with BT, iPod, etc. Boston Acoustic components in all 4 doors with a Sony amp, powered 8" sub. Ultra gauge, Tom Tom...
I will admit they are a "little" tough to adjust, but a cheater and friend certainly do help. Mine are adjusted to 1 7/8" of exposed threads, just below the max if I'm correct.

The adjustability sold me. The ride right now is great with the ARB bumper and winch combo. I will admit to not knowing about the travel, but hopefully I will make it to Raushe Creek for the run on the 9th and 10th of April. I will be sure to let everyone know at that point.

Either way you go, the team at ToyTec are very helpful and I would go to them again in an instant!

I can adjust mine pretty easily, dont even need to spray them first although I did the first time just in case and they were butter. Beat them up pretty good for awhile and adjusted a couple more times and they were still easy as hell!

They are great on and off road too! Thanks Toytec!

I don't believe I even understood my own question [IMG]

correct me if I'm wrong, the Up travel @ 3" of lift would remain the same because of the bump stop.

The Down travel is apparently what I'm having a hard time grasping.....does one give you more?

All of them I have measured are the same length as OEM. Measuring from the center of the lower mounting bolt hole, to the upper lower bushing mount. Measuring from the bottom of the lower shock mount, and to the very top of the shock shaft, Yes. They are about 1/2" or so longer, but this doesnt translate into more usability. The stroke is the same. Unless they have changed their design recently. To add, The wrenches included are an absolute joke. Instead of making the spanner that adjusts the upper collar larger, they made it from the same peice of soft steel the lower collar adjuster is made from, and removed material from it in order to get it sized propperly. This results in a huge weak area where the handle meets the curved section that fits the collar. Thus it bends.

So , bottom line , the OME nitrochargers have more travel then the Billy 5100's ?

The shock stroke is a little longer. Overall travel is close to stock. At least the old N142 shocks. Im not sure about the new 90000 shocks.

I had the OME 3 inch lift on my previous Tacoma and thought it was great. A little stiffer ride but found it very tight going around corners. Fit 305/70/16's on it with very minor thermal molding.

The 5100's actually have more overall travel than the 90000's. I went out to the warehouse and grabbed 1 of each shock and compared them.

As you can see, Both the actual shock and the shock rod are longer on the 5100. OME Lists the 90000 as having 130mm(5.12 inches) of travel and the N140S is listed as 138mm(5.43 inches) of travel. Bilstein does not list the travel on the C475.

Uh.... I assume in the bottom pic you've moved the shocks and you've lined them up so that all you're comparing is rod length? But even still - the shock rod length looks longer on the yellow OME. So no matter how I cut it - I don't understand the above statement?

Did you mean to say the overall length and also the body length are longer for 5100??

Good iinfo. Rod length doesnt nessesarilly dictate shock travel. Put a zip tie at the base of the shaft, and fully compress it, then measure the amount between the base, and the zip tie to get an idea of how much travel it has.
