I realize this is not helpful, but I did see another company making high quality sliders that also offered a clear coat but I can’t remember who it was…..:annoyed:

ETA: I also think the clear coat could look really good/unique on CSM and MGM for a mandolorian kind of look. Especially with the right colored wheels

I really wanted these sliders and the guy that does them seems like really a great guy - he told be he hadn't set up shipping yet but was working on it. So maybe by now he can ship them. I ended up getting Body Armor sliders recommended by some folks that do some pretty difficult trails. I'm still a rookie so I have been sticking to the easy (no longer much of a challenge but still fun) and intermediate trails.

I got these for $1200 and the shop, I guess gets lots of stuff from them because I did not get charged for shipping - If I were to order them myself I would have been charged for shipping also the shop charged me the same price as on line so I think they got them at a discount. Also the shop quoted me $200 to install. I had a friend help me install them because they just bolt to the frame. The install was not complicated but it was a PITA and took 4 hours. It was jus a pain to get everything lined up and to get to a few of the bolts.

I don't know about the mall crawler looks (seems they like P-steps more than sliders) but people that I respect and really know wheeling told be to start easy, get "seat time" and work my way up but the first thing to do was get sliders and skid plates to protect my truck - then lift, suspension and bigger tires to take on the more difficult trails. That has proven to good advice. You can see from the pic I slid sideways into a tree - rubbed the upper body but the slider kept the lower body away from the tree. I haven't rubbed any rocks . . . . yet.

They're definitely a pita to install if there good heavy duty ones. I paid to get mine put on after figuring in time, grabbing a friend, beer, pizza, swear cup and advil.

Do these sliders make my truck look even more sporty? I didn’t want to put running boards on it so sliders were my best choice 1 when I fall it’s easier to help me get up(grab bar) 2 door dings and 3 the urban jungle can be as dangerous as any off road trail (poles, trees, wife’s and Subarus)

Do you think I could make it up there in my Sport with really strong sliders, street wheels and tires? The view is spectacular great spot.

If you're a military vet or active duty/reserves/nat guard, law enforcement or first responder, they will give you a discount.

If not then have a family member or friend who is order for you.

They are worth EVERY DIME. Save up for them and get them.

I got 0°, no kickout, powdercoated.

    But a bit of advice.

Order raw finish and go get them rhino lined or Line-X'd. The powdercoat is meh when you get on the rocks. The finish doesn't last. I also wish I had gotten the 20° sliders for a more flush appearance.

I think mine are trail gear or some other cheap company. They were under $400 shipped. Have held up fine over years. I’d go cheap or buy from someone on here so you’re at least helping the little guy

For our sliders choose between kick-out or no-kick-out, from RAW, Powder Coat, and Bed liner finishes. More options than any other supplier on the market:thumbsup:. Plus we have free shipping & it is a easy instillation that is 100% bolt-on no modification required. Here are our two options Trail Edition Sliders: https://caliraisedled.com/products/2005-2021-tacoma-trail-edition-rock-sliders and Step Edition Sliders: https://caliraisedled.com/products/2005-2021-tacoma-step-edition-rock-sliders. I picked up some BAMF sliders from a fellow TWer.

Love them so far. As a bolt on option that offers 0 degree mounting, I can’t recommend these enough for someone who wants solid protection while retaining the step feature. Also, get the kickout if you're on the fence about it. Makes getting stuff out of the bed and on top of the truck a breeze.

I had to recent accidents where I got hit on the sides. Sliders took it like a champ and protected the doors, etc. If you get hit hard enough to transfer the energy though the slider into the frame, the truck was done sliders or not.

I installed Trail Gear from Ebay on mine also and they came bare steel and were under $350 shipped from Cali to OR about 5 years ago. I used a can of spray-on bed-liner to coat them and they turned out alright...rough textured for grip, just don't rub your bare leg against it going in/coming out... Love it when a-holes try to door-dink me and instead shed their paint onto the sliders...

Don’t get top plate unless you have to, would be my advice. And if you do, be aware that the bottom of the entire slider will store mud and snow, so you’ll want to make sure the paint is done properly, and is protected with a spray such as CRC marine coating. RCI for example, the underside will not hold up, and will rust due to their design.

while this is all true and good advice the top plates also keep branches and limbs off your rocker panel so double edged sword tbh.. I sprayed mine with Amsoil Heavy Metal rust protector and fluid film for the reasons you mentioned above on the bottoms of plates
