Its 38* here... Still rain/snow mix coming down.

The yard is a goop soup & the pond is flowing out the overflow. We on top of a hill & even with water running away from us.... The yard is just goo. This is a bummer for loading the excavator in a couple days as that's gonna make a real mess & the wife is gonna be seriously unhappy about that. BUT don't want to drive the truck & trailer back to the excavator, cause that would also be very messy.

Think i'll wait till Weds to load it since I'm leaving early Thurs... Less time for her to complain.

Got the dishes done this morning, laundry going, floors swept/mopped, cat boxes done.
Gonna chill out now with the dogs & surf the net.

    Living the dream every day!

Good morning all. Tried to snow a couple times this morning, not sure what may come of the day weather wise.

Hope all are doing well today.

A little of this and a little of that.
Safe travels to GA and back home. Hopefully nothing breaks.

Well........ Good memory, for one thing

Unfortunately for me, the week after I accepted that offer, the HR recruiter called me back to say that on Monday right after I had accepted the offer (on a Friday), the CEO and executive staff decided to re-structure the company, and they canceled all hiring in the U.S. and Europe. Including my position. The hiring manager himself called me a couple hours later to tell me same thing, they both went to their VP and told him I had already accepted their offer, but even the VP was not high enough up to reinstate my offer.

I decided not to say anything at the time, as I didn't want to come across as an attention whore with all the job related postings. But I'm not about to lie about the situation, so since you asked.... :)

So.... I have been back in search mode

I have a call in to a KY Labor/Employment Attorney to ask if they can rescind an offer that has already been accepted or not, but I suspect the answer is gonna be "Sucks to be you".

What?!?! That’s so shitty Tom. I’m sorry.
I wonder if they knew about the hiring freeze and were hoping to sneak you in beforehand? That could explain why they were so quick to get you an offer after your interview. Just speculation of course.

I've gone over every imaginable scenario in my head, overthinking is my super-power.... The first interview I had was on December 19th. The hiring manager explained that he had let the last person go, due to severe lack of job performance, and he needed to get the position filled ASAP. He said he only had 2 Major Incident people - the one he just fired, and one more in India. If true, then yeah, he would want to get that filled real fast, as major incidents is not something you can afford to be understaffed for. He said he had a couple more interviews to get through that week, and then he would make his decision by Friday, or the first work day of the new year (the entire company has the week of Christmas - New Years as paid time off). I did get a call on Jan 2nd, from the HR recruiter, saying I had been selected to interview with the next level manager up the food chain, and we set that interview for Jan 5th, morning. Later that afternoon, is when HR called again to give me the offer, I immediately accepted, both verbally and in email.

It is possible these folks at least had rumor of some big changes coming, but I am still quite surprised they killed this major incident position. Unless the top level folks decided to outsource that, and many other IT functions..... which would then make perfect sense as to why my position was canceled, leaving only 1 person to handle major incidents for the entire company.

This is my 4th round of unemployment since the first time, in 2010. I've probably applied for a few hundred jobs total during all 4 periods of looking, and nothing like this has ever happened to me before.

To be honest, there were a couple things about the job that I wasn't too excited about - being one of only 2 major incident people for the entire company, I would be on-call essentially 7x24x365, and also the pay was decent, but a bit less than the job I lost in October, and I would not be a supervisor or manager in any capacity, just a low end grunt worker. I am still hopeful a better opportunity is on it's way.
