    Morning all…

Not that I’ve personally experienced. But I have heard stories of trucks that have broken down with full loads in summer months, and it gets away from the driver and sets up. At that point we can either have someone go inside the drum with a jackhammer and break it away, or the drum is a total loss and they’ll just replace it. Surprisingly, they come off fairly easy and from what I’ve been told are fairly inexpensive as well…

I have a rebtal Silverado provided by my insurance. Toyota won't be able to start on mine until the 6th at the earliest. Quote seemed low, ~3k for everything needed. I took a look at the estimate and it turns out they quoted using all aftermarket parts, no OEM. I think I should call USAA today to see what gives and either push for OEM or some sort of compensation for the obvious reduction in value of my truck from having cheap, aftermarket crap used to replaced original parts.

    Do it!

That said, once you get your quote, tell em you want to do the repairs yourself and use the money for upgrades. Unless there are things broken you couldn’t see. Why fix your bumper if you’re gonna cut it for a metal one?

great time to mod to 35s! :sawzall:

Got the quote but Toyota won't be able to start for a week. There's some fender replacemebt and painting that need to be done, too. Not sure how much I can do myself, especially because their estimate i cludes inspecting for other issues and damage once they start pulling things off. Here's the total list of service and replace:

MD Law says that you are 100% able to choose the shop you want as well as use only OEM parts. Went through this a few years ago with Chevy for rear end damage on wife’s Trailblazer. Dealer and other guys insurance were pissed, but once I told them what I wanted they had to do it. Don’t let the insurance scam work one over on you.

Apparently OEM parts requirement is an additional insurance purchase option, not required by law. I can't replace and repaint the fender myself so I may just have them do everything listed and just bite the bullet, try to sell the new bumper when I get my suspension in

I didn’t realize it was an option for USAA… guess I gotta go check… not surprised they found a way to charge more

That sucks man, sorry. USAA did that to me with my previous subaru - was a numbered edition Legacy (spec.B) and I wanted subaru parts (needed a hood). I had to pay the difference between generic and a bru hood.

That sucks to hear. I couldn’t find the option on USAA for that but I was only checking while getting a new quote for the upcoming Grand Highlander

I haven't looked since then; maybe it's something that has to be done on the phone? Frankly I grow more disappointed with USAA as the years go by, for several reasons. Random rate hikes is the least of 'em

Yep, every year rates go up, without any changes on my end. Loan rates are not competitive anymore either. We moved loans and savings away from there. Insurance might be the next thing but my wife does not like change. I feel like changing homeowners insurance would be a pain getting Navy Federal to escrow it right.

Our new house policy looks like $250/year more expensive in usaa vs progressive; but cheaper than others - I think it was geico and liberty declined outright ("Due to our underwriting guidelines we cannot offer you a policy").

I switched to them because they were cheaper than Geico. But then when we participated in the safe driver bullshit and earned like 25% additional discounts, our next billing cycle was STILL higher. That's right, we earned a discount from one cycle to the next and, with the discount applied, our rates still increased. No accidents, no tickets, no other negative actions, no new vehicles, no change of address, nada.

Soon as this shit is over, I'm switching again.

Unfortunately I moved all my stuff from USAA probably 5 years ago. For the longest time when an insurance sales person would ask me who does my insurance and I said USAA they would just say oh yeah they are great and can't beat them and wouldn't bother me anymore. 5 years ago we bough our house and USAA was 3x what Travelers and Safeco were. (apples to apples too $1200 vs $3600). At that point we shopped the auto as well as a bundle and it just made sense. USAA for my auto was about 100% more. I love their service but not that much. If it was 10% more I would probably pay it or maybe 25% just for the peace of mind and quality but they just priced themselves out of the market here.

For those that remember or forgot, here’s an update about the Safari at the Quarry off road park in Delmar-

    from their FB post-
We have been busy working on the site. Building the website, and locking down details with are host location Kylan Barn only 5 minutes away from the Safari at the Quarry location. To respect the neighborhood adjacent to the property. All vendors, show & shine, music, and food and beverage will be at Kylan Barn.
It’s for safety of the participants, and the general public, and traffic concerns. That will have the Safari at the Quarry, separated from the Vendor & Entertainment hub at Kylan Barn
We will have all wheeling activities at the Quarry location. There will be 2 shifts daily Sat May 4th & Sun May 5th. Welcome party Fri May 3rd at Kylan Barn. We will posting more details as they get locked down. Hopefully we will have the website up by the 1st week of February. Registration model should be available shortly after that.
The Quarry venue is located off Connelly Mill Rd in Delmar.
We are so excited to bring this 2 year project closer to its launch and opening.

Agreed! We had USAA for a long time. My sister in-law was an agent for State Farm and kept trying to get me to let her quote me out and possibly switch. Kept telling her I was happy… until the day I finally called her. She covered all the vehicles, home policy, boat, trailer and motorcycle for almost half of USAA. And for the same coverage! I wasted so many years and money with them… even switched all our USAA bank accounts over to PNC. Best decision ever!
