That’s why Safety Sense includes Blind Spot Monitoring. That way if you have your side view mirrors looking at your door handles (like most people) you will get the warning light that someone is in your blind spot.

Works great except for the guy that had his bearings torch the motor on his Tundra at 63K....That 32K repair is a bit more than a few grand...lol

The Army has Apaches, the Marines have Cobras. I flew Cobras.

I dunno, that was not what I was talking about, there is a guy that has just over the powertrain warranty mileage, his bearings took out the motor like some of the others and the repair bill is over 30K. I think he is still waiting to see if Toyota will help him out.

The one I am talking about is Post 45 on the 3.4 I-Force engine failure thread on the Tundra Forum.

The pic posted has nothing to do with that....besides that one in the pic was 32K on the clock....

It will be interesting to see what they do since I think this is the first one that blew outside the powertrain warranty.

That sucks. $30K for a new engine is insane. Do you really put a $30K engine in a $60K truck so you are in hole $90K? I’ll be staying far away from buying a Tundra.

The repair bills from Toyota are silly, and seem to be a little made up sometimes, 30K plus for engine 10K for transmission, heck no wonder things rattle, they didn't spend enough on the rest of the truck..lol

Just wait until the first 4th Gen Tacoma engine needs to be replaced and see what the estimated cost of repairs from the dealer is....Come to think if it, I wonder what the cost is on the 3rd gen (from dealer/warranty) there has to be a few them that got priced out for replacement

The 3.4TT has been in the LS500 since 2017. They've only sold about 30K of them, but by now many of those have a lot of mileage - and they're not having any issues. Those engines are made in Japan. The Tundra/Sequoia engines are made in Alabama. Toyota Motor Manufacturing Alabama says it "assembles" the Tundra/Sequoia engines with a note saying "Toyota vehicles and components assembled using U.S. and globally sourced parts". Where are the blocks, bearings, crankshafts coming from?

    Aerospace pays better than Cobras.

Thanks. Yeah, they found stage IIIB lung cancer on a routine preventative CT lung scan. I am two weeks into my six weeks of treatments. Radiation every day mon-fri and chemo on Monday. So far the side effects are minimal with the primary one being really tired and run down. Early indications are the treatments are working. So, with a little luck I could be around for a good number of years.

Actually, I consider myself very fortunate. I have a wonderful wife, family, friends, job, great team of doctors, not rich but set financially. There are many people out there with worse illnesses than mine that have none of those things. My heart goes out to them.
