Hawaii vacation is off the table! Cancelled at the last minute!

Alaska Air contacted us with less than 24 hours notice our flight to Hawaii has been cancelled.
Guessing Max 9's are still grounded. Upside is my wife has volunteered me for the first available test flight over. Window/door seat!

 

I’m planning a trip to Greece. Very initial stages. I’m going to avoid Boeing aircraft.

 

at least you got notified. i walked up to the counter flight at 5something am. got there at 340am. and they told me and my son we were rescheduled to like 1pm, my wife and daughter on a different flight at 10am and my sister and her husband had been bumped to my flight as well. we all were going to Seattle. my wife got there and her 2nd flight was also changed and arrived 2 hours before my flight was to arrive in California. we were suposed to be on the ground in california by noon, i got in at 11pm

 

We did Greece pre-covid. Ruins at Athens are amazing, Museum adjacent too. We took the ferry over to Mykonos and Santorini. Ferry ride is kind of cool.
Can't remember which of the two was just a barren dry rock. I think there is a NATO air base on one of them.

 

Alaska?

 

yes, Alaska, though mine was literally the day after the panel blew out. and was also flying out of PDX

 

I fly out from Portland to San Diego on Wednesday. Was a -9 Max and is now a -900

 

1 week after the blow out flew Alaska non stop Tampa to San Diego. Tomorrow we fly United San Diego - Houston - Tampa. No issues so far.

In between we cruised to Hawaii and back.

 

Lucky you. Enjoy the rain coming in later in the week.

I love Greece. Mykonos is somewhat of a flat barren rock but with ruins. Santorini is the half moon shaped blown volcano island that you take a gondola to the top. Santorini is really cool if you can spend a few days there.

 

Just don’t fly United to Hawaii, they’re terrible. They tried to tell me that my baggage was on the way even when I pointed out that it was never scanned onto my flight or the last flight out it was promised to be in and the AirTag hadn’t moved in Denver for the last 12 hours but was last seen five minutes ago. “Oh, sometimes they just don’t scan bags and we can’t track them at all” is not a very satisfying answer when you’re halfway around the world without any of the stuff you need for work. At least I got a shitty United water bottle with some hygiene stuff in it…

 

I take a carry on with an emergency kit, fresh underwear socks etc. Stuff I would not buy if checked luggage is delayed. Long flights I carry a toothbrush and paste to brush the scum out.

 

same my sister wont check a bag anymore and ranger roll and vacuum bags her whole week in her carry on and backpack.

I on the other hand, pack a spare day of clothes for me and my kids and wife in everyone's bag.

 

eh pretty common the 900 with winglets for Alaska from the 737-9max
