Yes, but I don't want to be dependent on my parents until I'm 65; I would love to keep my dad's health insurance, but I want to go out on my own and more than likely get married.

And I thought I was bad for sometimes having three at a time! Also, that was lunch; Amanda had two and I had two...

So I found out from @Gwyns04 that the mysterious neighborhood beggar is actually supposed to be there; Gwyn just saw her at CVS and she was fine, so no worries about that. Gwyn even got this woman's name.

I have no idea if she live by herself or with other people who have mental issues, but she apparently has aids helping her 24/7. As for the the fact that I haven't seen her since New Year's, I have a feeling that the support staff gave her a stern talking to about asking neighbors for money...

Oh, and guess why she was asking people for money? She wants to buy cigarettes, and the organization that takes care of her won't allow her to buy cigarettes on their dime. So, the only logical thing to do would be to show up out of nowhere and ask neighbors she's never met for money. She's had the cops called on her at least twice for this behavior, including once when she walked into a resident's yard and asked his kids for money...

I am also apparently not the first person she's asked for a ride; I don't care how well I get to know her or how friendly she is. I will not let somebody in my truck who has shown themselves to be incapable of holding it until they get to a bathroom!

I posted this in the Underappreciated Survivors group I'm in on Facebook. People are arguing about whether this is a Chrysler Lebaron, a Dodge Shadow, or a Plymouth Acclaim...

I just realized a couple weeks ago that Helen's house does not have a self-cleaning oven; I personally cannot stand the smell produced by the self-cleaning function, but there's a very good reason I would always buy a self-cleaning oven. Why?

With the possible exception of super high-end/pro-style appliances that do not have self-cleaning, you get more insulation in a self-cleaning oven. If you are cooking something on a hot summer day and you don't have a self-cleaning oven, the oven will heat up your house and cause the air-conditioner to work harder. This will undoubtedly cause a spike in your electric bill; I just thought of this as well...

I don't think a gas oven requires electricity to operate beyond igniting the gas, but an electric oven is obviously electric. If an electric oven that isn't self-cleaning has to produce more heat to cook at the same temperature, then that will increase your electric bill whether it's A/C weather or not.

Helen's range is a fairly high-end model, but it does have five burners and an interchangeable griddle attachment for the center burner. The range and microwave were purchased in about 2011 as part of a package and both work just fine; I was shocked to see that a house as expensive as Helen's without a self-cleaning oven, but Helen has had self-cleaning ovens before and prefers to clean the oven herself. Helen has also told me that if she wasn't actively trying to sell the house, she would get a Viking or Wolf range.

You and I were talking on the phone a while back, and you told me it was your opinion that Viking was better than Wolf as far as high-end pro-style appliances; I know this is stupid, but for a while I actually like Wolf more than Viking because Wolf has the iconic red knobs. Viking, however, offers most of its appliances in pretty much any color you could imagine.

Even if I were a multimillionaire, I still don't know what I think of pro-style residential appliances like Viking and Wolf in terms of reliability and don't know if I'd buy them. They are crazy expensive, and the last time I read about appliances in Consumer Reports, they were among the most repair-prone brands. My parents' house has plain old GE appliances (not even the higher-end "Profile" models, except for the recently-replaced microwave). The 4-burner GE gas cooktop and the GE electric wall oven (self-cleaning but not convection like the one in our old house) are eight years old and still work great; I had to replace the light bulb in the oven last year, and one of the burners on the cooktop is more difficult to start than the others, but does pizza or turkey cooked in a Viking or Wolf oven really taste better than it does when cooked in my GE oven?!?!

The only 2 appliances I need are a refrigerator and a microwave.
I’ll have to sit this one out. I don’t use any other appliances enough to know. :anonymous:
