You also told me you believe that electric ovens cook better than gas, and you are right! From what I've read, electric ovens heat more consistently. Our house in North Wales, PA (which my parents bought new in 1990 and owned until 1996) may have had a gas oven but none of us remember. The North Wales house had a gas stove and gas heat, but my parents don't even remember what kind of oven it has. Every other house we've lived in has had an electric oven, and prior to 2007, every house we lived in had an electric coil-burner stove. The townhouse we lived in from 2007 to 2016 had a gas cooktop with downdraft ventilation, and a separate convection oven/microwave combo. The house we are in now has a gas cooktop with a vent above it, a non-convection wall oven, and a separate microwave. I have NEVER seen a gas wall oven in person, and the biggest new ones I've seen for sale only 24 inches. The most common wall oven size seems to be 30 inches, which both the townhouse and our current house have. My friend's parents' house had a 27-inch double oven before they renovated the kitchen. The 24-inch wall ovens seem to be direct drop-in replacements for units from the 1950s-1980s, as I've never seen a new house with an oven that small.

 

You do know how to use a stove, right?

Yeah, I do.
But I don't want to put that much effort into "food".
Last thing I want to do is come home and "cook".

Every once in a while, I'll throw down some mean omelets.
I'd rather cook on a gas grill than a stove top.

 

You haven't hated an electric stove until you've tried to put the stovetop coils back in after cleaning them.
They come out EASY, but getting them back in is a damn puzzle. They just plug in..........eventually.
And then they aren't level. WTF.....
I swear every time I was going to make them a Frisbee and throw them out the door.

Your oven is gas?

 

If I had to have an electric stove, it would be induction. I've seen my dad clean and even replace stove coils, and he hated it.

 

I scrapped a GE Cafe cooktop once. I got it for free, in pieces, and one burner didn't work. A rangetop is the one that looks like a professional stove but without the oven, right? Your current house in CO has a GE Cafe rangetop? I thought you had Whirlpool appliances?

I cook in larger batches, separate and freeze, then its easy to just quickly heat up something good.

 

I let the deli at the grocery store do the large batches for me.
But seriously, I buy sliced chicken, turkey, or ham. I probably eat it 3 times a week.
If you go at the right time, you can find the coleslaw, egg salad and potato salad and stuff for a good deal.
Mondays are the best, they want to get ride of the stuff they didn’t sell over the weekend. They mark it down about 50%.

 

Pretty much just to ignite and then the settings on top, IE bake/broil/etc. If we lose power here I can't use the oven. That said I keep my grill in the garage over the cold months so if that happens I just push the grill into the driveway and start it up

I saw a “Holden Ute” today. I use quotes because it was LHD

I’ve read of conversion kits and methods to get them stateside. How do you think they got it here on the road legally?

 

Likely a Chevy SS or Pontiac G8 that someone turned into a pickup; I've seen it done. I could see somebody sneaking a Holden Ute into the county, but I way in hell one of those would pass smog in California. If you got a picture and happened to get the license plate, I can run it through Carfax...
