My last bad habit left, probably why it's so tough. I've done it a couple of times but gone back in stressful times.

temperature is right back to winter level. had some flurries flying around earlier today but nothing that stuck to anything.

 

I see many ‘This vehicle climbed MT WASHINGTON’ on all kinds of vehicles. Seeing the vehicle, I’m guessing Mt Washington is an ant hill. I’d be more impressed with ‘This vehicle survived KENSINGTON’…

 

I've seen those and I chuckle thinking it's Mount Washington in Pittsburgh. Then I realize there is a much bigger Mount Washington, NH that is way cooler.

Now, surviving western PA potholes, that's an award to earn!

I proudly display that sticker on the top box of my motorcycle. In case you've never done it, it's about a 7 mile long switchback sort of road up the mountain. It's pretty damned steep and there are no guardrails. When we did it in 2018 the middle one mile of 7 was still unpaved. My g/f will tell you that she will NEVER do it again.

They do sell a sticker for Mt. Washington in Pittsburgh that says "This vehicles climbed Mt. Washington". I crack up everything I see them because I lived on Southern Avenue on Mt. Washington from 1991-97, 2000-2002 and I used to ride my BMX bike and my Trek 10 spd race bike from the 1980's up and down every road there. I used to walk them daily as well.

 

I started to ride my bike up , is it called sycamore st? But only made it 1/2 way and gave out. I'd like to try again with the electric bike lol.

 

I've been up there twice. On a bicycle!

 

No thanks! Ride up had to be brutal then the ride down scary! I understand they finally paved that center mile section in 2022 or 2023. That was the worst part for me, 2-up on a loaded motorcycle like we were.

 

It was an organized event. They didn't let anyone ride back down. We had to show proof of having a ride back down to the bottom in a vehicle. Wise choice I think!

It is a tough climb for sure. People were simply stopping partway up and bursting into tears. Crazy stuff. The first year I did it the top was completely fogged in. Could barely see my hand in front of my face. The next year I talked my friend into doing it with me; he found me at the top afterwards and yelled at me for 5 minutes! How could I do that to him! What kind of friend does that to someone!! But he looks back on it now with a good bit of pride.
