Interesting, so that’s about on par with what they say the weight of the C’s is. If I ever do get those C’s, I’ll do a weight myself and see what they come to.

If the two different loads happen to be the same right at 50lbs, I wonder what makes the E an E. As in how could they make it stronger and capable of E loads without using more material that naturally makes it heavier. It doesn’t really matter as I’m specifically interested in the C, but I’m just curious and really want to know the difference in specs. Maybe the C isn’t actually 50 lbs.

So tire rack updated their C 265/70/17 to show 40lbs per tire, the other day it showed 50lbs per tire. All the other specs are left blank though, so I'm not sure. Toyo's website still says 50lbs for the C.

Yeah it’s definitely not 40 lbs, I know that for sure. It should be close to my 255/75s, which are spec’d at 48 lbs. and they are heavy. I never measured them because discount installed them for me, so I never had them in my hands. But they were significantly heavier than the 39 lb rated 265/65R17 XLs I had before, which were super lightweight.

My guess is the C and E’s are about the same weight and construction and they just do something fancy to the E to up it’s carrying capacity while not weighing much if any more.

I should have done this from the get. Lighter for sure, quiet and smooth. I honestly thought I was back in my daughter’s Accord lol. It’s dang on peppy for sure. 35x1250/17 C load.

I didn’t realize different sizes have different sidewall designs. Mine are 235/85r16 and the sidewalls are not aggressive at all.

I think that Discount Tire set mine at 38 on my SR and I’m not a fan. They get up to about 43 at highway speed and seem to wander a bit. I’m going to drop down to 35 and see if it changes. Otherwise, they are a great tire.

It’s a bit hard to follow. All of the p-metric, SL, and XL tires look like yours. IF they look aggressive, they are LT.

But then yours are the perfect example, they are LT and still not aggressive. Some people say it’s based on where they come from (Japan or US), but there are plenty of either or. Mine are LTs from Japan and aggressive. There are plenty of aggressive US ones and non-aggressive Japan made LTs. Making the LT appearance essentially random unless you memorize what size has what.

Technically to maintain the stock load, yours should be at 42 cold.

I found mine wandered at high pressure at first, but that was only when the tire was brand new. It was like the brand new treads were unstable. Pretty quickly mine felt good at all pressures. For example I aired mine up to 37 immediately and they were fine there but when they warmed up to 40-41, they were hard to control especially braking on rough surfaces…wanted to follow the dips. But now that’s not a problem. So you might try airing them up to the recommended 42 after a week or so. Unless you’ve already had them a while and it’s still a problem. But yours look new so I assume not.

Thanks. They have less than 500 miles on them so I’ll leave them as-is and see how they feel. I need to add the values for TP3 and TP4 to my ScanGauge so I can monitor all of them at once.

I honestly was underwhelmed when I saw them. My truck is 95% around town but we do some off-reading and have benefited from better sidewalls on other tires. Time will tell how these do.

Here is another shot of the E load - definitely the aggressive block. I think all LT tires are aggressive, Toyo rep said the US made ones are gonna have a thicker sidewall than Japan ones' but idk - these are made in the US. Might mount them today or wait until my appointment thursday for the alignment.

It's more convoluted than that - the LT tires posted a few posts above are LT and they have a super minor sidewall, though I suppose maybe those were mounted flipped. Though I don't think so because the yellow circle for the valve stem is there. I know those are LTs because of the 2 sipes per tread block (as opposed to 3) and it says LT in the sizing if you look close.

Here's mine, Japan made LT range C 255/75R17. Aggressive sidewall.

    IMG_3155.jpg

I think it's mostly the tires for 16's that can be LT and NOT aggressive. So far everything I've seen for 17's in LT has had the more aggressive sidewall.

I'm not sure why Toyo makes the sidewall so plain on some of them. That is part of the reason I don't want to go back to SL/XLs, because they all have the plain sidewall.

Don't let that affect how you like the tire too much though, overall they are great tires, or at least have been for me. They run super smooth which is my favorite part. Too much past trauma from unbalanced tires in my life.

Would they have a different sidewall on opposing sides? I’ll take a look at the inside of the tire and see what it looks like.

On the ones with aggressive sidewalls, yes, one side is mild. But I thought the side with the yellow circle is the “main” side which is the aggressive one on models with aggressive sidewalls. But yeah check out the backside and see if it’s the same or not.

Well, I said that and then went and looked at mine and they seem to have about the same aggression on the backside. The taller sidewall lugs are usually the way to compare. My lugs are tall on both sides of the tire.

In short, you basically have no idea what your tire will look like from Toyo until you know what a specific size looks like and are buying that size.

I noticed mine had one side with large block letters and one with no block letters that protrude out, and it's a bit more tame on that side.

The letters on mine are probably a bit more tame on the inside than the outside. It's hard to tell since it's dark under the truck.

There is a slight difference. On mine there were two stripes on the treads, one red, one blue. DT mounted so that blue faced the outside, the larger letters were in the blue side. Of course those stripes disappeared within the first 100 miles.
