Can you guys recommend a good shop to do a cylinder compression test or leakdown test to see if the truck has a head gasket leak?

I called Toyota of Santa Barbara and I might as well been talking to the front desk at Disneyland.

Ventura riverbottom last weekend... water's pretty deep but still crossable - probably won't be after this weekend.

I've got a compression tester you can borrow. Hit me up if you want it.

Ya man been playin down there for years. Not sure where the paid lot is but usually drop in where Johnson Dr crosses under the 101. There's a couple entry/exit spots on the Oxnard side too. Hmu if you want someone to roll with... or need a recovery lol.

Thanks Chris, I appreciate you chiming in and offering! I’ll probably be in touch after all the rain.

Hey Deric, one just tore a boot recently. I’m hoping to change it out in the near future. How’s your rig holding up?
It’s funny how we both were in the process of changing cv axles that day!

I had no clue you could get down there... how soft is that sand/dirt usually?

I am sure this has been talked about but I live in Ventura County and I am looking for some places I can pull up to and just be away from everyone and everything and just camp, not somewhere that is just a bunch of camping spots lined up. Preferably within like 2 hours or so of Ventura County, I know most places are closed due to weather at the moment but if anyone knows any spots that I can access now or even just some good spots once the weather clears up it would be much appreciated!

Bummer on the torn boot. I actually need to reboot mine again - same side I was working on when you came by lol. Wondering if I need to find a better solution than the factory boot kit.

4wd or even 2wd aired down gets you through most of it. The water's hard to gauge.. 2ft can turn into 3-4ft pretty quick. The Oxnard side has the levee and a dirt road that a sedan can handle lol. Ask me how I know :D

Sheriffs do patrol down there just fyi... Haven't seen one in years but they usually just tell us to leave.

Could check out Apache Canyon up the 33. Or more specifically Nettle Springs. Haven't camped overnight but we go shooting all day and no one bothers us. I've only ever seen a few other people and they're usually just passing through, looking for their own spot. Pretty secluded.. no cell service.

we gonna have to plan something to get some of the 805ers together like we used to! Back when we had a solid crew of Tacomas built to different levels going in runs all over. Has some sweet caravans going down!!
