But on a better note, 3 legs are done.
    20240124_173344.jpg
Only 2 more mortices to clean out on 1 leg.
    20240124_173416.jpg
Once the mortices are done I'll move on to tennons and fitting them.

This is something I accomplished several years ago. I had allowed the shower-head to drip on the water-control handle but finally needed to remove it. The ionized-calcified crud filled the tiny screw hole.

While my accomplishment is small-time compared to some ... I broke a titanium-coated 7/32 drill bit getting that <bleep> off.

Here’s his final build. And today I tossed together a whale of an Outlaw Class car to run with all the other freaks.

Mortices are done on the legs.
    20240127_152534.jpg
Once I started chopping I kinda fell into a rythem and it went pretty smoothly. Narex morticing chisels work great. I just used the bench chisels for smoothing and fine tuning.
    20240127_152546.jpg
Next it was time to trim one end smooth of the cross members. Layed out some lines.20240127_163239.jpg
    Cut....flip...cut.
    20240127_163709.jpg
Matched up pretty good for a 6" timber.

Next I cut the cross members to length.
    20240127_164422.jpg
    Easy peasy......
    20240127_164949.jpg
Now all the cross members are cut to length, next I'll be forming the tennons. I'll. Make them a bit oversize so I can trim them to fit.
Man I'm having fun on this build, isn't that what it's really all about? I don't do wood working for money, it's not a job, it's for fun. And this one is for me.

I need a tennoning jig for the next steps of my workbench build so I made one today. I kept this one very simple compared to others I have made or seen. Sometimes the K.I.S.S. works the best. I also just used scrap wood so there is no cost, and screws I already had in the shop.
Started with a piece of 3/4" plywood and a scrap of 1" walnut. Cut a rabbet in the walnut to straddle part of my saws high low fence.20240128_184723.jpg
It fits snug but still moves easy on the fence.
    20240128_184731.jpg
Next I screwed the back part of the jig fence on.
    20240128_185911.jpg
And I attached a top brace to hold everything square when in use.
    20240128_185920.jpg
I made sure everything was square as I put it together.
    20240128_185927.jpg
then I made an outrigger to straddle the saw fence and help stabilize the jig.
    20240128_194256.jpg
Now the jig can just lift off or drop on when needed and not interfere with the saw fence. Adjustments for the cuts can be made with the saw fence. You just use a quick grip clamp to hold the stock and push it through the saw blade and just cut through the plywood on the first cut.

    Very Cool!

I made it this far today. Still need to final sand, attach the top (simple pocket holes), and finish.

Woodworking folks, any tips on making a bar stool?

We have two of the stools pictured, and my wife wants a third. They aren’t made anymore, though it’s a common design with lots of slight variations.

I’ve got a table saw, sliding chop saw, a router, and the normal clamps and chisels. The faint seat buttprint recess and the curves of the legs seem like the most challenging part. . (Obviously they’ll all need a fresh coat of paint too!)

Is it time to get into drawknives? I figured I can take one apart and get pretty close with the tools I have. Thanks for any tips.

Id use a grinder with a sanding disc to get the buttprint indention, then sand as normal. Looks like tenons on other parts.
