I'm still rocking an original pair of Gary Borger Ultimate wading boots made by Weinbrenner over in Wi. Bought them at Hunter Banks in Asheville, NC many years ago. Not sure how many layers of carpet I have pulled off and glued back on but it is a lot of them. There was a time here that you couldn't use "felt" soles because they thought they contributed to whirling disease, but that too soon passed.

No. I think I lost Mikala’s number too. What was it again?

    Happy Tuesday evening, everyone.
Nothing exciting to report, just another day at the oriface. I got a notification about the next scale model train show this weekend, along with an email from the promoters giving up the (sad) details about a model train hobby shop that was a Baltimore icon since the mid 1930's. This was a dedicated model train hobby shop that was a regional Walthers distributor ( Walthers is THE name is the industry for a distributor of offerings for model railroad supplies from around the globe) so the hobby store had EVERYTHING in stock from the catalog. Long story shop, the original owners always made sure that there was always a retail space for hobbyists to be able to walk in and hold anything in their hands. When the business was sold and relocated out of Baltimore city about 15 years ago, the new owners kept the name ( M.B. Klein's) but started phasing out the retail aspect of the shop. The owners sold the company to a U.K. based hobby distributor about 3 months ago which just recently went bankrupt itself, taking down MB Klein's with it.

I can remember standing in line ( which wrapped around the block every January for an annual sale) with my dad for hours when I was a kid.

I know that Chuck and a few others seem to get some quality care out of the VA, I'd love to know what that is like. The Baltimore location is so horrible, I will often just go without any kind of general medical care before I take my life in my hands and go into the ghetto to get to that location.

I am a believer of felt in the creek but you might bust your tail getting to the creek lol I believe Maryland still has a ban on it and Yellowstone but most of the places I go are ok with it. I took a hard look at the korkers but they seemed a little heavy to me if I go on a trip somewhere that doesn’t allow felt I might break out my first pair and replace the studs. That’s actually what pushed me to the felts to begin with two packs of good studs aren’t cheap. And I don’t think anything is going to grip any better than felt it’s like Spider-Man traction.

I used screw in snowmobile racing studs on my LaCrosse pack boots for ice in the driveway

They are slicker than owl shit on cement, and all I can think is how slick they would be on slate streams.

Couple of years ago decided to upgrade and went with.... Korkers!

You are likely one of the few that understand why LOL. Mine have the BOA speed lacing system though, some days I love it. Others when the cold and arthritis hits the fingers and joints not so much. Either way the studs on the Korkers are just about right. For ice and snow boots.

Thought I’d let you know that my vision has started coming together. While not yet perfect 80% of the day I’m seeing single vision. Been a long 7 year journey!

There are ways around this. Depends on the med. My wife had to be on an expensive one and got I think 12-13K of the yearly cost defrayed
