do you have documentation that they're rebranding chinese tail lights, or is the manufacturer they contracted in china to product their product simply selling a product with lesser-quality components for a cheaper price?

i've seen both situations. unfortunately, it's a consequence of chinese ethics and manufacturing in many cases.

I didn’t know that . They list much of their stuff as USA made . Must be rebrand for the headlights and taillights . I still use their pods. Crazy bright and personally think they look the best .

I had Form Tail lights and the paper that is in the box is Diode Dynamics, the fuck you mean do I have documentation, you sound but hurt about me talking shit about them, apparently You have not red the post on page 5 made... get lost.

 

Back on topic, I'm not sure what people are expecting for a $750 canopy. Of course it's cheap trash

I think the reason that people are ticked and the whole reason that this thread exists is because its a $750 canopy being sold for $3000 and marketed as made in the USA when it isn't. People just see the price point and what looks like a legit seller and think it's going to be up to the standards of RSI or Alu Cab and then are severely disappointed.

I meant as in I’d but the gfc with the pop up tent and such . Even if cheaper the Bynd one does not look well made at all .
I paid about 4k for my alu cab and would do it all over again vs even getting one that cheap on ali

 

If I had to chose between GFC, RSI or Alu cab,

i'm well aware of chinese manufacturing processes, i've spent somewhere near 20 years in aftermarket lighting design, troubleshooting, and production. i really don't give a damn about diode dynamics in all reality. i've never been impressed with any of their products enough to even recommend them for anything, but they tend to pop up in recommendations from others more often, and in a 'birds of a feather' sort of way from having a significant interest within the category they occupy, i've always been distantly aware of the products they offer, though never really dug into it much.

i've also been an electrician for about 13 years, and know of more than once where 'genuine' products like circuit breakers would get manufactured off-hours in chinese plants with all the appropriate markings and documentation, only to be filled entirely with sand, or actual garbage.

there's also the well documented market on Amazon and ebay, selling knock-off oem-branded spark plugs that use inferior materials and have been documented to fail very quickly, sometimes even causing engine damage from the inferior metals breaking off and damaging the cylinder walls.

all you needed to state was that you have a set of knockoff's and they included the same documentation as the diode dynamics lights contain. that would solve part of the documentation issue for what you claim. the second part, indications of inferior craftsmanship, would require opening up the light and analyzing the components used to build them, contrasted with opening up a set of 'genuine' diode dynamics lights.

if you run in electronics circles, the likes of hackaday, or sparkfun/adafruit, there's been a few blog posts in the past on chinese manufacturing dilemma's. on one part, the ease of getting any product made there is extremely easy, and extremely cheap, due in part to the differences of the pay scale of chinese and american labor. on the other, any product made there, due to some of the cultural issues, generally gets copied and undersells the genuine original after a span of about 3-6 months. making a quality product, anywhere, always leaves space for someone else to make the same product at a lesser quality. that's simple business cost/benefit analysis.

in my post, i sought information. i simply don't have enough information in either regard to determine if diode dynamics is reselling a chinese product, or if the chinese product is a copy of a genuine diode dynamics product.

either situation is plausible, though in my dealings, it's lead me to be at a distance, but familiar with the workings of the diode dynamics as a company. and them simply reselling a chinese knockoff does not fit the ethos of the company i've brushed up against over the course of my lighting experience.

in the past, it would be incomprehensible to compare diode dynamics to the likes of a company like 'spyder auto', if you ever knew of them and low cost garbage they churned out. i'm not saying it's not possible-- it's very possible something changed in their management structure that i'm not aware of. i'm only saying that it's atypical for the company as i've known them in the past--they generally like to build their own iterations of things to maintain a specific quality standard, which is very similar of a company like The Retrofit Source. either company worked very hard to maintain an active customer service team to deal with any product failures as soon as possible, and part of any active customer service strategy is to first build a quality product that doesn't need customer service in the first place.

 

Before insulting someone you should learn how to reply in complete sentences with proper spelling and punctuation.

 

I was just angry after spending $450 just to have moisture build up in the tail lights, last thing i wanted to see, plus it pisses me off that Form lights make it sound like they manufacture them, then when you get the package just like anyone else your excited and hoping they will work out, but then on the Box of the FORM tail lights says made in china with a QR code, the link i posted was just to share, allot of these people company's make it sound Like ( Hey look at are new product we have come out with )
in all reality they buy them from Aliexpress or Alibaba just to turn around and slap there own name on them, This is sick allot of these people are ripping customers off, just like this BYND campers same bullshit.......
