All manufacturers can put out a turd. It sounds like the Rav4 hybrid is an example of one from Toyota.

This kind of surprises me. Toyota has been doing the hybrid thing for a long time. You would think they would know better.

I went through the same thing when the new Tundra's came out, I ended up buying a new GMC Sierra 2500HD Duramax diesel CC Std bed 4X4 and have absolutely no regrets, truck is beyond my expectations and has been rock solid with 40K trouble free miles. Plus my GMC was built in the USA not Mexico.

Throw in another towel ... Picked up a 2018 Silverado LT Z71 4WD Crew Cab Short Bed that needs a new transmission, so it was right priced. Now I'll research who makes the best remanufactured 6L80 and fit that, do the cooler thermostat swap for lower operating temp, hptuner mods, AFS disable. Should be bulletproof. Has 3.42 rear axle ratio and can tow 9100 lbs. 5.3L V8, 355 hp, 383 ft.lbs., 16/22 city/highway mpg, 26 gallon tank. Was surprised it has wired Android Auto. Will add a snow plow. This satisfies my truck needs for now and maybe forever. Still, do look forward to seeing 2024 Tacoma's hitting the dealer lots and streets and reading real user reviews. It looks like a great truck, the price made me look wider, and I decided to go bigger. Whatever you decide to do, enjoy your trucks!

Agree with OP. Placing an order for a 2024 Canyon AT4 this week. The roof denting issue has been fixed on the production line for 2024. Those with 2023s without a sunroof are eligible for a new service bulletin to add reinforcement to the roofs.

I test drove one and was blown away. Rides so much nicer than my 2015 Tacoma. Way more power. Cabin noise is night and day difference, so quiet.

I've always said the things I like about my Toyota are the reliability, exterior styling, and resale value. Everything else is super meh...

Just for fun I built a Canyon AT4 on the GMC website. I added pretty much all the packages and it came out to an MSRP of $50,465. Not bad in this crazy market.

I thought the price was pretty acceptable. I find the interior of the Canyon much nicer than the new Tacoma interior.

Another thing to keep in mind, GMC is including acoustic front glass and windshields on all trim levels of the Canyon. With the Tacoma, you only get it in the premium trim levels.

You seem to have a lot more customization available on the GMC build as well. Interior and exterior options and packages for each trim level. Even the base Elevation trim is very well equipped. Some of the only things I noticed that you can't get on it are the heated steering wheel, cooled seats, and Bose premium sound system.

The AT4 can be fully loaded to have almost everything the Denali has. I think the only exception is the Denali has some sort of vibrating seat safety alert. I think it's for the collission avoidance feature. Fully loaded AT4 is the way to go for me.

That's what I was looking at too. Loaded AT4 comes to about $52.5k which is same price as a Sports Premium. Did red on both. With the AT4 I get auto 4wd, bigger engine, more towing. With the Tacoma I get power sliding window, homelike, digital mirror, larger screen. Being my towing days are over I an leaning toward more creature comfort items. Really want to see a new tacoma next to an AT4 to compare the stance.

Will do. I would like those buying the new Tacoma to do the same. Hybrid model as well. Previous track records do not necessarily indicate future ones. Toyota has maintained reliability by keeping their vehicles super simple and lacking technology.

I do not expect a new 2024 GMC to have the same reliability as my 2015 Tacoma. But that's always going to be a tradeoff. High output engine with all the new technology bells and whistles can't compete in reliability with something with extremely limited engine power and lack of technology.

No one knows what sort of issues the 2024 Tacoma will have at this point. Atleast GMC has had 1 year with the new Canyon to work out a lot of the issues.

My 2015 TACOMA Sport was a nice truck. Good luck with your GMC.

The Tacoma being magically more reliable is just nonsense Toyota fanboy talk. Go look on fb mkt and you will see tons of trucks like F150's with well over 250k miles that have little service history. It's not the 90's anymore....

The 3rd gen Tacoma has a slew of common issues just like any make and model will. The 3rd gen Tacos common issues range from rear bypass plastic coolant pipe leaks to timing cover chain leaks, SAIS pump and valve issues, wheel bearings failing prematurely, etc.

One problem with the "Fully Loaded" Trail Boss is that it has no leather, no power seat, no 11.3" Driver info, no adaptive cruise ect. Trail Boss does not allow for fully loaded truck as an option. It is the WT with a 2" lift . So basicly the same as an SR5 .

Can you show us this data?

The interior quality on my 3rd gen is by far the worse I have ever seen.
