    Hello All,

Thanks for accepting me into the forum. I need opinions and feedback, I’m looking at buying an older used Tacoma, I’m looking at 2006 Tacoma 4x4 v6 with 170k miles asking price is $12,995. To me for the age and miles that seems crazy, but Tacoma’s resale value is wild right now, also found a 2010 with 195k for $15k, I can’t find anything else in my price range. I don’t drive much, 5 miles if that a day to work, a random 20-30 mile trip a month or so. I’m just curious if those prices are fair and on par with the years and mileage? Both trucks are negotiable also. Everything newer is dang near $20k with 120-170k miles. Thanks guys

That’s a Tacoma for you. lol

if a car is running, it’s worth at least 3k

if a truck is running and looks decent, no matter the make or model, it’s at least $10k…..just how it is. Everyone wants a pick up truck.

I wouldn’t be afraid of a high mileage Tacoma, just make sure maintaince has been done. And avoid 2005….head gasket issues

Dude no kidding! It’s wild lol people taking the “I know what I have” to the extreme. Ok thanks for the heads up! I’ve heard 06 has head gaskets issues as well. Is it the 6 cylinders?

Yep. I remember wanting a crappy truck to beat around on when I was 21, and everything was at least $8k back in 2015.

Yes. Some 2006 build models also had issues. On the v6 4.0

For sure. Ok, I’m looking at 06,2010, and 2013 all V6’s. The 4 cylinders are kinda sluggish I hear

    not every price is final
    lower mile examples exist
V6 Tacoma isn't the only vehicle in this class to consider

    it's a gas N/A 4cyl.
    N/A 4cyl is for a $1k sedan, not truck

Very true! I want a lower mileage one, but they are super expensive where I live and was only approved for a certain amount.

it could take broadening your search range
individual seller probably cheaper than a lot flipping for profit

not saying I recommend 1st gen Taco, 3rd gen runner, or 4th gen (I simply don't think about them as right now I have what I have and that's not changing)
but take this for example. 4th gen runner. What's different? Not much. And yet half the price.

That's another option. Something cheaper, paying it off fast, then using that to help get into something else you want more next.

2005 and early 2006 have the possibility of head gasket issues and the frame collapsing at the drivers side engine mount. Both issues were corrected 11/2005 and both issues are extremely exaggerated on the internet as to how likely it'll happen. Other than that, the only serious thing to look for is frame rust especially near the front cat.
