Thanks - I just msg'd them for a homeowners quote. Their car insurance quote is cheaper than I pay now at USAA; but I'd have to check to ensure comparable coverage amounts etc,. Thanks for the heads up.

That's heartbreaking - and it makes me pretty frustrated at govts enabling that kind of extortion. MI is a no-fault state, so at every car wreck one's own insurance covers one's car. That hurts safe drivers because no matter what there's always a claim against their insurance. I doubled my insurance costs between Alabama and MI. As-is, I'm + $1000/six months moving here from OKC.

OH! This just happened: I went into USAA and quoted my car insurance after moving to the new place. The quote showed a redux in about $50/month by living up there. Good. "Save quote". A couple hours later I went back to the same quote....showed +80/month INCREASE. Just incredibly stupid. Gonna force me to have to call 'em, which I don't wanna do, but yeah.

Interestingly enough most people save money on car insurance moving from MD to PA.

 

And that's the rub - why did it change after I logged out? It's hopefully just a problem with the system.

 

Erie is who I have on my vehicles & homeowners. They saved me alot of money coming from Liberty Mutual. Progressive was cheaper for my motorcycle & atvs so those are still with them.

 

Just did the quick estimate with Erie and they are pretty much the same as USAA. Maybe once all the details and any discounts are taken into account it would be cheaper but I’m not talking to a real person for that at anytime soon.

Quote was based on my truck and wife’s upcoming grand Highlander.

Erie sent me an email asking for some more details. I said I wasn’t planning on getting a full quote and they sent one anyway… maybe for the best though.

Looking at the quotes, they are almost half what I’m paying at USAA. I don’t know if the coverage is comparable but I think I’ll find out.

Told wife she rolled her eyes, said if I’m checking, try State Farm, so I’ll have to check there too.

 

Couple years back when I was pricing around State Farm was the most expensive for me.

 

I expect it to be higher too. But wife’s dad uses them so I’ve gotta check. He said he was going to get quotes after his agent retires.

 

I checked Erie to see my quote. Guess they don’t like my 23 year old son. Or is it me being an old geezer?
About $2500 more than USAA.

You guys are freaking me out with these Auto Insurance prices!

Although, our policy with USAA does not have Rider Adult Children.

 

That’s crazy!!

I’m sure mine will be that high when my son gets behind the wheel in a little over 3 years. Still seems really high.

I didn’t ask about coverage for the extras on my truck or if they change the premium…

 

I pay $90 a month full coverage with Erie for the wife's 4runner & my Tacoma. But I'm in WV and our yotas are older.

 

When i started driving in 2011 my insurance was around $1900 a year. Now its $700 a year.

insurance is a racket. I hate it.

 

I was 1000000000% drifting @fatfurious2 ’s truck when my dad still owned it. Its inevitable.

just keep good tires and brakes on everything and pray he cant figure out how to turn off the nannies and safeties

 

The day that it was pouring rain and on the way to high school i almost got tboned because stability control shut the throttle off for me, was the day i decided i physically cannot daily drive something with traction control. I absolutely hate it. LET ME SLIDE DAMN IT.

My State Farm policy for both the wife and I fluxes between $130-175 a month because all three vehicles are on the “safe driver” discount thing that monitors your speed and everything… then basis your discount on the previous months “driving score”. Don’t mess with my discount!! There’s also a discount when you bundle your auto with home… but they are separate policies and bills. Our home is paid from the escrow from mortgage… but still through State Farm.
