Those are the long life iridium plugs. Different than the 2nd gen OEM. None of the 2nd gen came with iridium plugs.

Also, I’ve let the engine warm up and I’be been working it back and forth but boy that plug is stuck hard. I’m able to get maybe a quarter turn before I have to go back the other way. I’ve been spraying PB Blaster as I go along. Seems like it’s taking forever, should I just keep on this course or is there anything else I can try?

If thats all the oil there is on it after 130K i would make the move and look after later. No need to do right away.

I don't think so, unless the spark plug tube full of oil.

At this point i defer to members that have more experience with this issue.
If he can get it to turn a 1/4 turn is it just carbon buildup or is there an issue with the threads themselves?

I finally got it you guys. I’m not proud, I had to use a breaker bar. It finally “popped” and started coming loose. Hoping I didn’t damage the threads. We shall see

Also is there anything I ought to do before putting in the new plug, regarding the threads and all? I’m sure there’s carbon still on there. Should I clean it out?

    I would continue doing that.
If you force it out all at once in one direction, you risk damaging the threads in the head.

As for the tube seals, you can probably wait.
Most of the time, the seals don’t leak “fast”.
The tube could fill with oil, and once it gets to the metal top of electrode (where the coil snaps on), it can/will cause misfires.

Good to hear. Do you have a inspection camera on a cable? Maybe borrow one to have a good look.

Put a few drops of engine oil on the threads going back in. Go slow and keep it straight

That coil looks rusty like there was maybe water in the spark plug tube?

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Don’t wait for the tube seals. Do them now. Do it all at once or you’ll be sorry.

    Good it worked!
I’m at 60k and want to change mine. Usually if it feels stuck I’ll bang the wrench to act like an impact.
Just leaning on stubborn fasteners can break them.

Thanks everybody for all your help. I blew out the tube, put ran some oil on the threads and a little bit of anti-seize and threaded it back it. It went it really easy, didn’t feel like the threads were messed up at all. I tighten all the plugs to 13 ft/lbs and called it a day. I’m gonna re-inspect the tube at the next oil change and see if there’s oil in there and how much, will probably get those tube seals and the valve cover gasket all done sooner rather than later. I just can’t do them now. Got 2 other cars to tune up before we pack up and move. Thank you everyone for all your help and advice.

@babylon5: I don’t have one of those but that might be a good investment especially after today.

This is the boroscope inspection camera I bought. Has both a front camera and a side camera. works with android and apple phones.

thanks. that is for CA and does not ship to states.

is for states and with clipped coupon ships free for US27.99. i'll give it a try. looks reasonable. not expecting perfection but is free returnable just incase.
there is also a single lens version for about $6 less after coupon clipping smoke clears.

Being from Canada I included the link for the one i bought. Figured you would go to .com for members from the US anyway.

Haven't had a chance to poke around in the engine yet but seems to work well and the cable is quite stiff so not likely to bunch up going into tight spaces.

Edit: i also see free "CamX - USB Camera" app with good ratings. looks interesting but not sure appropriate...i'll stop hijacking now :).

without having a cam to use, xscope and useeplus appear to be identical but under different names. i'll try a few things out and report back if
i find something significantly more useful than those two. thanks.

    update:
though xscope and useeplus appeared to be the same, my cam is not detected on iphone/ios 17.3 by useeplus. so, in the garbage it goes.
it is detected by xscope, which is the recommended app in the instructions for iphone.
the "CamX - USB Camera" app, that looked promising, does not detect the cam, just the phone cams, so in the garbage it goes.
xscope has enough bells and whistles to use it effectively.
Teslong cam build and packaging are higher quality that i expected. picture is about what i expected for 1080 resolution.
    a good purchase.
it is easy to transfer xscope pics/vids to phone photos so you can email from there etc.
xscope also appears to have its pics/vids album integrated into phone albums.
