The last day of January already - getting closer to recreational driving season!


Today is the birthday of Stuart Margolin (1940-2022) who is perhaps most remembered for his role as Angel Martin, James Garners shifty occasional sidekick on The Rockford Files - the best TV detective show of all time IMO.

In addition to a film, TV & theater career spanning more that four decades he was also a director, screenwriter, songwriter & singer.

Notice the look Rockford is giving Angel -- in trouble again...

No idea how long it's been on Maui but not seeing snow is a safe bet!

 

How is the knife business going?

Long story short. Had some family health issues arise after an accident last year with our 6 year old son. Everyone is doing great now, and I am interviewing for several different roles currently. Going to change up the knife business to operate very small (just enough to cover is own cost).

Good to hear the family is better now Phill. I interviewed for a job last week that I told the thread about. I didn't get it but its ok. I told them what I wanted money wise and they balked, which is fine. I'm not leaving a steady union gig for a start-up unless money is significantly better, even if the startup is Amazon. The job was Processing Lead, 1 of 3 team leaders responsible for assembling, stacking and fueling satellites for Amazon's new company, Project Kuiper. Much of the team and technology from what I can tell has been poached from SpaceX's Starlink, down to the guy I interviewed with.
It was good to go through the process and see how these huge corporations interview. I found out Monday and was a little bummed but I got a good reminder that afternoon that the good Lord is in control, I got an email reminding me of a $.50 /hour raise that starts 2/1 making me topped out per this union contract until we negotiate a new contract this spring.

 

Thanks Guys!!!! Absolutely the Lord is in control! I've had 6 interviews this week. I've got one this afternoon where the VP is flying up from Houston to meet with me and take me to dinner. And I've got 3 more tomorrow and Friday. Should be getting one offer by the end of the week and another offer early next week. Then we will see what happens with the others.
It's a mix between Senior Engineer/Lead Engineer roles and a Lead Accounts Manager for super large org. on the engineering execution side of the business.
