In the early 2000's, my mom was fighting cancer (Melanoma). At one point, her doctor prescribed Thalidomide. She told me the cost if she had paid out of pocket was $5,000 a month. Fortunately, my parents had both been public employees in CA, and so had top notch insurance.

Well, that's part of it. She sold her house and moved in this place after my dad passed from Alzheimers a few years ago. She was his care, 100% for 14 years. She was amazing, albeit a little bitter that her retirement ended up being a nurse to a shell of the man she married, rather than travelling and enjoying him and their grandkids. She kept it to herself. Those days have changed. Now she's mad at herself for selling, mad at us for not talking her out of it, mad at her new neighbors for...being old! LOL.

Strange to see this 'new leaf' after all these years.

Plus she's in NH, and can't do much outdoors this time of year. She's mad about that too!

Like others, been there, done that, not fun, but you’ve got this, you’re doing what’s best for her, just remind her of that…

They finally picked up the company van and there were a ton of leaves under it.

So I had to clean up. We are supposed to have a pineapple express coming through here tonight, through Friday. Don't want to create beaver dams.

When I say a ton of leaves, I mean the 50 gal trash bin is now full.

My faith in humanity has been somewhat restored. The cable guy just left and completed everything and then some. Long story short we were going to cut the cable, until someone came to their senses. Told him my beef with Xfinity , and the rep looked into it. He got back to me and did everything, cut the bill in half, all new gear, faster internet. He even ran all new cable from the utility pole at the street. So fingers crossed :fingerscrossed:
