I don’t believe so but might be from the slope of driveway or the fact I hadn’t got the 5160 rear shocks yet. Got tires and shocks last night.

Yeah it took a bit of a MPG hit due to the added drag. I’ve felt a noticeable gain in winter driving though! Plus the whiskey by the fire…an unintentional plus

Not knowing much about this issue, I would like to see a detailed procedure. It makes a lot of sense to me. Maybe even a sticky. I'm getting ready to do a tire rotation and it would be cool to knock this off the list at the same time. Thanks @1TACOTONY .

Let me know how the install goes.
I had to review the assembly video a few times before I was confident in tearing down the HU. I just removed the XM module because I never used it anyway.

Me too but it was too cold so the double sided tape would not stick.

‘Does yours actually work flawlessly? No missing factory set up menus, interfacing functions with no glitches?
Is it Apple Iplay, or just mirroring ?

I got the auxbeam 8 switch panel. I wish I’d have done that to begin with to be honest…it really cleans up the wiring. For the back I did extreme LED stackerz https://extremeledlightbars.com/extreme-stackerz-kits they’re nice lights and you can stack them anyway you like.

For what it’s worth, the shocks will not increase the ride height.

Truck looks awesome though! I believe it is the slope of the driveway. Mine always looks like the front is slightly higher when facing uphill on a slight slope/grade.

It is the ARE overland. Had the windows put in with hinges makes it really easy to get stuff in back of truck.

I did the same with the aux beam panel last spring really tidied up the engine bay. Only thing I did different on install is wired it to a seperate constant 12v switch so I can run my camp lights off it without the truck being on acc. It's still a single battery set up so I carry a little jump pack juuuuust incase now.

My Taco is a 2017 so I immediately needed a firmware update for the touch screen to respond but this was because I ordered from Amazon Canada which did not get the updates before they went to retail.
The tech was responsive in about 1 hr and the update worked.

The module has both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay functionality as well as Mirroring. I use AA but have not tested the Mirror function yet. The current USB connection is disabled after the latest update because the module links to the OEM HU through BT and Wifi although you can still use the USB in the OEM HU. The USB on the module will only be for firmware updates now I suppose.

I have only had it lock up 2x times but that was with the 1st firmware update about the screen. I have not had a chance to update to the latest firmware which uses the BT connection of the HU which most likely will resolve the situation.

Edit: I updated to the latest firmware and have not had a lockup so far.

When dad was a PoW at Stalag Luft 1 in '44-45, he was part of the camp vehicle maint crew. They actually had a truck that burned wood in a stove attached to the rear bumper. The smoke from the wood burn was piped to the truck's engine carburetor. The engine would then burn that smoke to make power. (No gasoline available)
Only about 3-5hp on a good day, but it was enough to drive at walking speed with a load of rutabagas in from the surrounding fields.
Enough combustible material in the smoke to re-burn under compression. I'm not a scientist, so I can't say if it was carbon atoms, methanol, alcohol, or what ???.

(Back in the US, dad NEVER let another rutabaga enter into our house. Ever! Hated them w/ a passion.)

Wow what a story to be able to share! My grandpa was the same way with rutabagas, I never asked why, now I wonder the story behind it. When I was younger I brought one to his house and he threw it out. Stupid teenager trying to be funny at the time instead of learning a story from a prior generation.
