I think technology has caught up now where you don't have to do that anymore.

Sounds like it has the same fake engine noise as the JBL Tundra's. I do hope the 2025 Tundra's get the Tacoma's digital dash display as well as the underground color. I'd hold off snagging a new Tundra this spring if that was the case.

That video is 2 months old. Not that it makes it invalid, just saying...

If the Tundra has it then I am sure the Tacoma will too. Tacoma always gets what the Tundra has and then some. Or gets the better version of whatever it is (like the digital display).

That’s pretty incredible and it’s being done at speed. Any truck would be destroyed going through that.

It does have fake noise pumped in, if you watch his video with the manual you can see what it actually sounds like as those don’t have the augmented sound.

I don’t think it’ll bug me as I kinda like the sound, and I won’t be dogging on it all the time.

Dependent on trim…hood silencers, acoustic glass, noise cancellation, and speaker sound augmentation. Because this is obviously a “back to basics” $50-60k Toyota truck.

Just be sure to not stand outside of the truck while it’s running. When driving, roll the windows up. Might also close the sunroof and rear slider to achieve the ideal sporty yet rugged engine sound.

And remember, speaker volume at 25 or higher is factory recommended ideal for off-roading.

Yeah I have older parents that wear reading glasses. In any case a bigger screen with bigger icons is easier to use on bumpy roads or in stressful situations. I don't mind it.

Fake engine noise has got to be the lamest thing ever added to a vehicle.

Defroster grid on a movable window is more failure prone. The bottom 1/4 of my 4Runner rear glass doesn't get heated. It's also a controlled leak path like doors and sunroofs, so you'll need vapor barriers and drain holes in the design. The rear hatch on 4Runners is usually the first body panel to rust out, many turning into swiss cheese near the latch mechanism after 10 years.

Ah, I haven't watched the manual video yet. Its not a big deal if someone doesn't like it as it can be shut off. I'm meh about it myself. I just have seen comments on other platforms where people think the Tundra v6 sounded better than the v8, but it was all the fake noise.

Last week I had a bed full of snow, once I got on the highway the back window got ice blasted. No way I could have had the window open.

I suspect it's due to access cab being small enough, that the heat from the air vents is usually enough to keep the rear glass from frosting, after you initially scrape off any ice before driving. A double cab would benefit more from a defroster.

I don’t usually have much issue with the back window fogging or frosting up in my double cab. It must be the heating vents for the rear passengers that takes care of it. Oh wait…:(

@SwollenGoat For hauling dirt bikes and towing a camper the Tundra is the obvious choice. Add in the fact they are discounting them makes it's a no brainer.

And I just built a SR5 double cab with an 8ft bed!
