Looking into purchasing a BBK, more so the ALCON kit but it’s made for the 3rd gen…are the brakes interchangeable among 2nd and 3rd gens?

What made you choose Alcon? Good brakes but curious, I have not seen them on Tacomas yet.

2nd and 3rd should be the same and have the same rotor size and 14WG caliper. The rest of the front end is mostly the same as well and should not be an issue. Most brake kits are 05-22. The main would if you went to a 4runner kit which works but ideally wants a bigger master due to increased piston size. The common BBK kits are Stoptech, wilwood and powerstop with Tacomas.

I have access to Wilwood and Powerstop at Holyhorsepower.co if you are interested. I am going to have to dig into Alcon as well.

Stoptech is 6 piston, They also have a 4 piston. I had the RR Racing kit as well before. Its a nice kit but is technically for a 4runner not Tacoma. I switched to the Stoptech kit since it was designed around the Tacoma or you get Tacoma spec pistons. Wilwood also came out with a direct fit Aero-6 caliper as well now that is for the Tacoma so technically that should be better than the RR Racing setup. since you no longer need a bracket. The stoptech kit at least the one most run is 340mm but the TRD kit (this used a 4 piston caliper) (also a white labeled stoptech) and the kit for 16" wheels (stoptech 16" kit with 6 piston) uses 323 or the smaller rotor but still they have it in a 6 piston form.

Need to checkout the Alcons they make nice stuff so I'm sure it will be solid setup.

Would you recommend this kit instead with the 340mm rotor?

I’d love to order the Alcon just afraid it might not work due to my 17” wheels and a 355mm rotor. I won’t be able install right away due to weather.

    EDIT***
Comparing the types of wheels that has been confirmed that fits…looks like it will fit with more than enough clearance. Especially with my 1” spacers along with it, puts me at around 3” of backspace.

    Yes. Hopefully it clears 17’s.
These are engineering companies that know the Tacoma exists. If they’re designing a part likely they’re taking into account what the vehicle is, to design the part. Such as calculating brake bias, piston area, etc

many kits that do fit to choose from

Contacted ALCON, hopefully they’ll let me be a test mule for the 2nd Gen TacomaWorld family …lol…14” rotors and 6 piston calipers would be nice. :D

What kit did the video host? If he was running 17" then it will since that was a Tacoma in the video. If the are bigger than 340 they likely wont fit 17" that would likely require a 18" wheel. 355mm for example no way it would fit. if so it will be damn close. the 340 takes up the majority of the wheel well already.

Im intrigued maybe the tacoma beast guy is running 18's but Alcon is nice. The SOS and Willwood are proven and powerbrake is a newer one that a lot of folks like so tossing that out there. we have stoptech and access to wilwood. working on powerbrake. if this works ill have to look into alcon too.

It looks to be 17” and it’s the 352mm rotors.

Think I’m leaning towards the STOPTECH 6 Piston kit with 340mm kit, just a few clicks away from making the decision. :)
