Quite the bad ass truck. Noticed the article doesn’t say anything about range though, or I missed it. :)

While we haven't transitioned from an F-150 to a Tacoma, we have owned both at the same time. I always preferred the nimbleness of the Tacoma; but the back seat back and bed space in the F-150 is great. If you don't need the extra space, then I think a Tacoma would be a nice, reliable, step into a mid-size truck. Another thing to consider is how the truck drives. The F-150 drives really nice and has a quick pick up with the turbo. I would say the outgoing Tacoma (3rd Gen) had some acceleration issues....but I am guessing a lot of that is solved with the 4th Gen with the new engine and transmission.

I think if I, personally, were to get a Tacoma instead of an F-150 it would need to be a long bed. There were many times I had to opt for the F-150 for bed space due to the Tacoma being too short to haul something.

Again, like others said - there are pros and cons to both trucks.

    Itz JDM tyte, yo!
I drove both the 3.5 Ecoboost and the 5.0. I prefer the 5.0 due to the sound.

The 3.5 Ecoboost performed nicely with the lower end torque it has though. The 5.0 is more of a revver.

I have zero regrets going from 18 pro to my 23 f150 with the 2.7. Have a 36 gallon tank, 11k tow rating and get 23-25 mpg on 33s if I keep my foot outta it. Gobs of power and blast to drive, I love it.

Plenty of power coming from the 2.7, I can't recall ever putting the pedal to the floor and never use sport mode.

I used to drive an f150 before my gen3 Taco, the thing I miss the most are the seats. On the Lariat, theyre very well positioned, comfortable and luxurious. The Taco seats by comparison are not the greatest.

I have a 2010 f150 and thought a long bed hybrid Tacoma would be a great replacement so I rented a 3rd gen Tacoma before putting money down. I’m glad I did because I flat out did not fit inside! I felt like I was driving a Shriner car and I’m only 6’4” 190lbs. My wife typically drives small cars like BMW i3 and Mini Cooper S and I’m quite comfortable inside.

The really weird part is I’ve driven Hilux a fair bit overseas and didn’t have a problem… I mistakenly assumed it would be the same. Not sure if it’s a totally different cabin or the vibe (awesome overlanding in Africa vs boring commuting) made it more tolerable.

I’m not completely writing off the Tacoma yet since I only drive the previous model but it would have to be drastically different.

Between the MSRP, speculated fuel economy, and previous drivers space I’ll probably end up back in a full size truck or something like a Sienna if I can find one.

I'm also thinking about moving from a 2018 F150 to a 2024 Tacoma. I've always owned and loved Toyota trucks, but my family outgrew my 2012 Tacoma so I moved to an F150. The F150 has so much more power than my 2012 Tacoma did, gets better fuel economy, and the interior has way more room. We couldn't fit three car seats in the Tacoma. But with that said, there's just something about a Toyota that I'll always love. The 2024 Tacoma i-Force Max looks like it will have the power to be comparable to my F150. I used to tow a trailer fairly often and haul my family around, but we've since upgraded my wife to a Ford Expedition and we now use that for hauling the family around so my F150 is usually empty or maybe carrying one kid to sports. The F150 has never felt as capable off road due to it's size and parking in the city is a pain.

I want to test drive a new Tacoma before I make my final decision, but I'm considering the new Tacoma.
