    Hey guys,

Firrst post here. I usually find every little thing on here but this one I just can’t find the exact situation I’m having.

I have aftermarket head and tail lights (alpharex headlight and MA pro series tailights). Recently they both stay on when the truck is off completely all doors closed, the key fob is locked multiple times. They only turn off when I turn them off manually. Swapped the door switches and still an issue.

The dome light automatic off function still works.

Any suggestions where to start would be great, did a quick check and all fuses look good and connections look good.

The relay may be sticking. I never deeply investigated that circuit just in case it ever happens to my own, but a quick recap through my head without checking schematic as far as likely offenders would be the combination switch itself, or the relay. I would start with the relay and make sure it is capable of disengaging. If that checks out then make sure that combo switch is not defective. Toyotas aren't known for bad ones but it can and does happen from time to time across every manufacturer.

The door ajar light is working on all doors and even swapped a few they all activate the dome light and turn the dash light on and off .

What relay are you referring to?

Just drove home and now they are working… it’s a on and off thing it seems like. Not sure if they narrows things down or makes it more complicated.

I would think there is an auto on/off headlight relay. If not then that only simplifies things.

You may want to get a schematic of the circuit so you have a clearer view on how the setup works. Especially if it's an intermittent thing which is working and not working.

Also, if you turn the headlights to the off position while the truck is off, and back on, if you don't turn your ignition to the on position the headlights will not auto off if you open the door.

Then again, you have those alpharex headlights. Somebody may have wired them incorrectly or used t-taps and you are getting an intermittent connection somewhere now.

Also IF you or someone opens the passenger side door before you open the drivers side door the lights will remain on.
