Gen 3 AC is the best looking Tacoma ever produced. New ones look genaric and the interior is hideous.

Not one bit surprised. Majority of consumers what more and better to apparently to make themselves feel better. Consumerism has been destroying this country.

I'm in the 'not a fan of 4G looks' camp, way too much going on with body panels - thinkin' a 4g will look silly in the woods - nothings perfect though, as much as I love the looks of my 21 ORAC, would have prefered just a little less snout.

Closest thing on the market to my 5 lug. Which is all I need or want.

I'd wager 80-85% of the folks on here (if they were honest) don't really off road where 4wd is needed. And I don't live where it snows. I just need to occasionally haul some bulk that won't fit the RAV well.

If I wanted larger, and needed some snow help, I'd buy a Ridgeline before a 6 lug Tacoma. Much more comfortable as a pavement pounder. I don't care what the cool kids roll.

As you see, my 'need' is limited. And as far as buying new, I've not done that since '04. And have no interest in doing it now. I have no reason to. It's not a matter of 'can't', it's a matter of I'd rather use my $ on many other choices.

As far as the Maverick goes, I'd only buy a hybrid of this nature. Never a plug in or an EV. Like the whole topic of ethanol, there's a whole bunch of hokum involved in those.

Older Ridgeline, my 5 lug, late model Tundra. Just for some scale.

Let’s be honest, a RAV4 and an 8x5 utility trailer would be more than enough for most of us, but “small” off road capable trucks are way more fun.

You're right, there was plenty of whining, and there you go, Toyota just dropped in a big display and called it done. Ugly!

Great point about the 3Gs simplicity. I, too, have no intention to buy a 4G.

    Two words...HOT GARBAGE.

I would give up aesthetic relevance in a heartbeat, for more function.

Reminds me of the old joke: “I might be drunk but you’re ugly. In the morning I’ll be sober and you’ll still be ugly.”

Bought my 2023 in December and very happy with it. I wanted simple, I got simple. Mrs PondScum drives a car she loves with way more tech. If I want more comfort then she drives. Which is never.

I think many of the new trucks are sharing similar shapes and lines in fenders. I’ve seen some photos where the fender flares are the satin black vs the terrible looking glossy look. Tear drops under headlights weird but … whatever . Can’t unsee the dent . I have not seen one in person so it may be better in person ?
Very much gmc look . It’s almost like when cars went from boxy to more sleek. All the car makers started to borrow similar body lines and ideas. It’s like that with the truck market now . I still can’t figure out though… who in the world green lit that stupid “roll bar” looking trash on the trail hunter model . I know it’s a matter of taste , as I’ve seen a few you tubers add one of the trash catchers to their third gen …
But still…. Looks like a hot mess

Dang you found a ton of evidence on the body line troubles. Definitely looks odd.

Alot of people hating on the 4th gen before they are even out, let's see how many people change their mind once they dominate the roads. The 3rd gen will be forgotten

So I own a 2021 "VA" WRX - the last of the generation before the 2022+ "VB" body style. When the 2022's first released everyone hated the body style and how they looked, but if you look at a 2015 WRX and look at a 2022 WRX, you can tell the 2015 looks 10 years older, just looks dated. Now, a couple years later people in the Subaru community have really grown to love the new WRX, not only for the stupid easy power the FA24 makes but because the body style.

The same thing goes for the 2016 Tacoma vs 2024 Tacoma. The fact is, change is hard for people but in time they'll come around. The aftermarket will fix a lot of complaints, and once you see them with some nice wheels/tires and a few mods, they'll grow on people.
