That's no bueno..I had planned on finishing the pre-prep in the driveway this weekend for the the SUA install thats coming up in a few weeks.

Drilling out the rivets and installing bolts so I can still DD my junk.. and also need to modify the Sliders to work with the Frame Brace Kit..

Still progress, those rivets suck. I ripped mine out for a SOA rear Shackle flip kit years ago.

The ones I got so far at the rear shackle hangers and bump stops weren't bad at all, I was able to knock em out by hand with a punch and a few easy taps after drilling them out..

Not my truck took 3 days with a grinder, drill and air punch.

Never had to do the rear shackle hangers actually but done a few trucks (mine and a buddy’s) bumpstop ones with a 4” angle grinder, drill bits (a stepped bit would be nice) and an air hammer.
Usually took about 45 per side including taking the wheels off.
But also didn’t care how much we bent the brackets we were removing.

So… ring/pinion on my stock 8.4" is wearing like nobodies business the shop told me. Kicking myself for having 4wp do the install back before I knew anything about these trucks. Probably just going to throw a new ring and pinion in it if I can find someone to do it right. As much as I want to, don’t have the money to splurge on a ford 9 or something similar yet. There’s nothing cheap when it comes to axles as far as I can tell :notsure:

Look into buying a complete 3rd from ECG or something like that
Keep your truck on the road and then when you get the replacement it gives you your current one to use as a trail spare

What he said ^^^ you know it will be set up correct from the get go ,plus they will warranty their work. I've used them on both my tacoma and 4runner with great results.

Building up your collection of trail spare or garage spare items for your rig seems to be one of the slowest but most cost effective things we do.

I’ve got spare coil packs, spare CV’s
Spare spark plug wires and all sorts of odd shit now that I’ve either pulled off early for service
Or something I pulled off broken and repaired enough to keep for a spare

and it’s saved me sooooooo much money when bad timed events pop up

ECGS is great, I bought my gears from them originally. Only issue is I'm locked with ARBs, which means I send mine out to them for repair, or I have them install a brand new airlocker. Definitely ups the $$$ a chunk. I suppose I could part out the old 3rd.

Most people underestimate what goes into a cage. It’s an intense project. Imagine if you had to bend and notch everything yourself….

Yup that’s what myself and my buddy have been saying the whole time. Thankfully the TeDesign cage was spot on on all their bends and notches.

Late to the post party on this one. My truck had the same handling problems of wandering all over the road. I had several wheel alignments performed and it still didn't help. We finally looked at the rear numbers and the thrust angle and toe was way off. The rear housing was bent. I replaced the housing and the problem went away...no more wandering.

About how much does a cage cost at a shop? I've been welding and bending tube for some time now but I think that is the one thing I am going to leave to a professional to do.
