I have Focal IC690TOY front door speakers, Focal IC165TOY rear speakers and Subaru tweeters with stock head unit, very pleased with the sound and great improvement over factory speakers.

I had the same issue with my 4R. In the end, it came down to space. I ended up getting a quick disconnect cord.

I threw some crutchfield plug and play replacements into my door speakers and that in itself made a huge improvement. The fact that the magnets are more than half an ounce in the speaker cones aren't tissue paper I believe is what does it. The factory speakers are just good for talk radio and that's about it

If you want better sound, and don't want to spend a ton, the best thing is to upgrade speakers. Look for something with good low frequency response, and efficiency.

Compare specs of the speaker options that fit your Taco, and focus on efficiency (SPL) and frequency response. The higher efficiency will get you the most output without an amp. And, look for something with decent low frequency response, like 30HZ or maybe 40HZ.

I went with JL C1-690 first the 4Runner. I have no amp (yet), but still decent sound and output.

I plan on reaching out to him when I get mine to make sure the springs and shocks I picked will work for my intentions.
Exit Offroad is the only place (that I've found, so far) that you can buy 'assembled' Dobinsons.

Let me know if you want to DIY the rear gear to save a few bucks. I'm not super comfortable with a front clamshell but regular Toyota thirds are no big deal.

@pearing Now that I think about it, I probably have an extra empty V6 third housing on the shelf if you were looking to go full carrier locker.

No bueno for me on the front. They are clamshell style that are tough to setup since you have to do it blindly assembling the clam halves and then disassembling them to check. Makes it even more guess and check than a normal gear setup.

Adding a lunchbox to a front is no big deal. But a selectable/full carrier locker is the same as setting up gears too.

I think ECGS has a deal where they'll send you a whole front diff, and you just send the old one back to them. That's most likely what I'll do if I ever go off the deep end.

That's the route I went. They charge you a core, then refund it once they receive your diff. Worked out really well.

So the bump stop guy just got back to me and said he is printing me some softer ones and will be shipping them out soon. I may not have liked his product in its current state but his customer service so far seems pretty damn good.
