    HOW DARE YOU!

It's widely known that the original burrito was invented during the American revolution, during which soldiers were trying new ways to keep their beans and cheese warm, yet easier to eat while chasing the British. A young man named James Burro discovered that all their bread rations were flattened, and wrapped his beans and cheese in the flattened bread. One soldier saw James eating this, and while pointing at him he yelled "eat!", but was trampled by a retreating British horse. The other members of the unit though he was saying "Burr-eat-O!" so the term "burrito" was born.

Etymology. The word burrito means "little donkey" in Spanish, the diminutive form of burro, or "donkey". The name burrito, as applied to the dish, possibly derives from the tendency for burritos to contain a lot of different things similar to how a donkey would be able to carry a large burden.

In Spanish, yes. In American, it's a delicious wrapped food.
