I grew up, although use that term loosely LOL, in the Twin Tiers of NY/Pa. Hunted chucks in Potter, Tioga and Bradford Counties I used to get .25 cents a tail for them from the farmers. Would make enough money on tails to buy another brick of .22 shells. My friends and I would always start to get warmed up for shooting about the time they would bring Phil out. The one thing and one of only a few I don't miss about hunting them in Pa. is having to wear an orange hat. Only State I am aware of that requires wearing an orange hat for shooting woodchucks. The other thing would be not being able to hunt on Sundays except for crows, foxes, and coyotes. But that does free up time to go to the gun club on Sundays to break some clays. Or go to NY to hunt.

It was Bill0351 +15 woodchucks 0 last year. Subsonic .22s out of a heavy barrel target rifle are actually quieter than my hunting air rifles.

    We don't have woodchucks here.

Probably would have a gun if we did

    And an orange hat

My hometown is South Gate, part of LAUSD. Both my parents worked for LAUSD, my dad as a Plumber, and my mom as a teacher, then an office assistant once my sister and I were grown. My sister actually has taught in the Long Beach school district her entire ~30 year career, so it sounds like the policy I mentioned isn't just Long Beach, but probably common through out CA.

Was disapointed in subsonic performance so applied for a suppressor. Took more than a year but the suppressor for them finally made it through BATF Jail and is sitting in my safe. Once it warms up will screw it on and give it a spin, or two.

Finally broke down and entered the world of PCP air rifles a couple of years ago

Damn thing is more accurate then the .22 target guns. I love it. In the summer after supper go out to the deck and try to put 10 shots in the same hole. Some days are better than others....

Tomorrow driving 3 hours round trip to see how many clays I can break. Well before they hit the ground LOL. Usually take the 16 ga. target guns

But tempting to take the 12 and 20 this time as I joined the winter league

I like my wood and blued steel but have to admit I shoot the Benelli best of all if push comes to shove. Even if it is black, plastic, ugly as sin and throws shells all over the place.

Well if your installing MacOS you are basically installing Linux FreeBSD anyways :D If you don't hate all OS's equally then you don't have enough experience with them. Just saying.

Home schooled both boys including computer systems and the oldest ended up being level 2 support at Apple for 7 years. Now he is a SysAdmin in Boston doing the typical thing that generation does jumping from company to company every few years chasing the big bucks. I didn't teach him that however....

Oh, I agree. I started my professional life as a Unix system admin for many years. I went from that into storage systems admin just about the time Linux was getting big enough for the mainstream world to notice, I have never touched a true Linux box. My first 18 years, I worked for Intel (yes, *that* Intel), and in 2006 when the first Intel based Mac's came out, I snagged a 17" MacBook Pro. The main reason was because of MacOS, which I knew was FreeBSD based, and of course somewhat because "Intel Inside". I had that system until my ex-wife threw a glass jar of coins at me, missed and shattered the display on the MBP :frusty::frusty::frusty::frusty::frusty: My current system is a late 2013 Intel based MacBook Pro, 15". I need to upgrade, but with no job at the moment, and a starting price of $2000.......

I started my "career" in the I.T. field in 1992. After 18 years with Intel, they sold off my business unit, and the new owners laid off all the IT people, since they had their own. I then got a job with Bank of America, which only lasted 9 months until they decided my position was not really needed. I found another position with BofA, but I left that after 2 years to to Law School, and change my profession. After 1st year, found out I was not eligible for student loans due to a bankruptcy I had previously, as a result of the extended periods of unemployment, so had to return to the I.T. field. I had the next job for 5 years, at a health insurance company called Centene, but left just before I was about to get laid off sue to my refusal to take the "vax" in late 2021. My next job was for Rockwell Automation, and they decided they could toss me in the dumpster last October and replace me with a much cheaper person based out of South America. Argh.....

I interviewed and hired the DBA at Intel in Chandler, Arizona around 22 years ago for the Server and Storage team where I work. Long ago we split the 2 and of course have separate teams for servers and storage, he went with storage. Took him hunting to Northern Mn. not long after he moved here where he shot his first whitetail deer.

My youngest sister was an early hire at EMC as the manager of all hosts in the compatibility testing lab. At the time and likely still is the worlds largest computing facility under one roof. After ~10 years her husband who worked in IT at Fidelity got transferred to North Carolina so she quit to be a stay at home mother. He retired not long ago and she cashed in her stock options from EMC, they now live in a McMansion. Big brother, not so much. But I have no complaints. My first computer class was APL (A Programming Language) in 1976. Then not long after 20 years in the Navy where I was in and out of computer systems, but never far from them.

Remember, my dealings with LAUSD ended 45 years ago.
I think, because of its size and heavy admin, LAUSD becomes a target. My kid went to a different school system and had the same issues. Some teachers just wanted to punish him because of his ADHD.
