My dealership finally is opening a tech case for me. They have been getting more trucks with the same problem and are finally raising the issue to Toyota.

I had an 03 Corolla 5 speed that I bought new to commute to work. It had a shudder accelerating through 2nd gear from new. Got the shoulder shrug from the dealer. I drove it with that shudder through 200,000 mostly problem free miles--and I assume it's still running somewhere to this day.

That's the way I'm going to treat this. It seems more like a characteristic than a defect. While most people focus on brakes and axles, it feels too much like a transmission/differential thing to me, because it doesn't matter if I'm braking or just coasting to a stop.

Dropped mine off at the shop today with 1,200 miles....

They gave me a loaner Tacoma. The loaner does the same exact thing, and actually vibrates more. I can feel vibrations in the pedals when braking. It has only 600 miles on it. What a joke Toyota.

Update: Got a call today and was told they agree there is a problem but they don't know how to fix it :/

I told them about TSB 0023-19

And they gave me a generic excuse and said I could talk to the foreman tomorrow about it.. wth?

All they did was check fluid levels, and make sure the trucks computer is working properly.

Guess I need to call Corporate. They had it for two days and that's all they checked.

I too have this problem and have done all my own work on the truck due to bad experiences with dealer/mechanics/corporate. Installed lift, and noticed the vibrations mentioned here (slight shudder all speeds / rumble-washboard deceleration). Installed 2 degree shims but that put the pinion to high and just added to the mess so i just pulled them. Messed with the carrier bearing but that just makes the transfer case operating angle more and it's parallel with the pinion (.2 down down) and the center u joint is almost in-line (shouldn't be totally in line for lubrication) anyway (this is without shims cause I miss measured the first time). It's just above livable, so still annoying.

I may do this soon for my own piece of mind but has anyone dropped the drive shaft and driven it around in 4-HI? Is that a good idea? Truck has 15k

Will post if I figure this out. Or get a custom double cardan drive shaft if it is the shaft and say f*ck it. I get the reason for a 2 piece shaft but something is f*cky here.

Edit: It's not the needle bearing

Awesome work man. So you're getting the rumble strip vibration at slow down correct?

Aren't the 2x4 also having this problem though?

It can be many things with vibes according to the TW verse and I bet some of it is my 255/75/r17 tires (self inflicted by the lift as well). As for the 2x4, yes no propeller shaft so must be something else.

Yep the vibes on deceleration, with or without breaking.

As to the general thread feeling...I paid you f*ckers how much for the truck and you can't even get vibrations to go away... I am right there with ya.

I am taking mine to the dealership for the second time this Friday. I opened a case with Toyota last Saturday, was supposed to get a call back Monday, still haven't heard back.

I notice this vibration on my 2-week old Tacoma as well. It only has 600 miles at the moment.

It feels like a slight vibration in the drive-line under acceleration or deceleration, between 10 and 30 MPH. I wouldn't call it worrisome, but it is certainly disappointing on a truck that feels so refined otherwise.

The seating position discomfort is also becoming more noticeable.

Better refrain from doing any more mods to the truck until I had a chance to take it in the dealership and get an official reaction.

I have to admit these are surprising well-documented issues for a truck with record sales.

I just got rid of a Jeep with 8,400 miles due to poor assembly quality and dealer indifference. I hope I didn't make an error in trading in a Jeep for a Toyota.

Dropped truck off again today. This will be the second time. Truck has 1,500 miles and is worse now than ever.

Took the foreman with me on a drive and he agreed it's there and not normal. He actually seemed to care and said he would look into it thoroughly.

I will update later when I get it back.

Got a call from the foreman today.

They agree it should be fixed and not normal but don't know how to fix it.

An engineer from Toyota is coming to take a look at it on the 9th.

So I am picking up the truck tomorrow and dropping it off again Thursday.

    Will keep you guys posted.

Good luck brother. My rumble is back, and worse than before they turned the drums. Yay! Need to call dealer and revisit the issue.

Did you ever get an actual engineer from Toyota to take a look? I'm curious as to what they'll say. I am not too hopeful though and looking at trading in if this can't get fixed. Will probably be my last Toyota if so.

2023 Offroad 2wd has this problem. Had the TSB for new leaf springs and spacer in steering wheel done but problem persists.

Only on deceleration or when accelerating too? Can you describe more in death?

Only on deceleration. Told the dealer about it and they did the TSB replacing the leaf springs and putting the spacer in the steering wheel. Just like the TSB says, when braking from 30 to 10 mph just before stopping. The rearend will start hopping, TSB called it a vibration. The TSB did nothing, not sure what the TSB is for, but it's not this. I personally think it's a combination of warped drums and torque converter issues. My torque converter slips almost continually while cruising steady at rpms 1500 and below. I checked my drums buy getting up to 40 mph, putting it in neutral, and using the parking brake only to slow the truck. I could feel a pulsating feeling. Tomorrow I'm going to check the trans fluid level. If it's low, I'm going to have the dealer confirm both issues then go from there. I have 5k miles on it, but it has done this since new.
