I get a minimum of 18 with mixed city and Expressway driving.
I follow the "live" mpg gauge on the center console and the ScanGaugeII I have will give figures beyond 30mpg so that helps as well.
I accelerate moderately and coast to stops. On Expressway I keep it under 65.

If you care, drive like you care. If you don’t, don’t. It makes a difference. Personally, I like money in my pocket rather than someone else’s.

There is no right or wrong.
Some care about mileage, some don’t.

A lot of people saying to use less skinny pedal, which isn’t wrong. But I would submit that you also need to use less wide pedal. Every time you slow down you are going to need to speed back up.

I think if you buy this truck thinking your making the exception of driving a half ass truck in order to save some gas money, your pissed its not that good.

If your loving having a Tacoma compared to the camry you had been driving earlier and have no need for a real truck, you dont care about the mpg.

If your driving it to beat it up and have fun wheeling you dont care about either.

One can never have too many light bars.
Remove all seats, tailgate, spare tire, center console, interior cloth, stereo, speakers, back window. You might pick up half a MPG with the weight savings.

Probably not. Weight isn’t the issue at freeway speed, it’s drag coefficient. Weight matters towing or hills but relative to the gross weight even a hundred lbs is piddling unless it’s in the tires/wheels. I’m generally at 50% max load and still get good mileage. Only traffic, excessive speed, and stuff up top do me in.

This is how easy to make a Tacoma out of mostly-standard Lego bricks ...

I tried filling up with 93 octane non-ethanol after getting my Taco just to see the effect. My mpg went up 1-2 mpg’s. The 93 non-ethanol had the same result on my Yukon in the past. But it’s too expensive, a little over a $1 more per gallon. I don’t think the slight improvement in mpg is worth the higher price.

Sorry, the perceived improvement in fuel economy had absolutely nothing to do with the higher AKI fuel.

The improvement wasn’t perceived, it was real. The mpg went up, I didn’t imagine it, it went up. Also both the Taco and Yukon ran smoother and had a tad more pep. I tried it on my old Isuzu pickup and the mpg went up also, I didn’t imagine that either.

I don’t think gas choices make much of a difference I just use whatever is at the pump 87. Like I said earlier, it is a truck and when adding a few extra modifications, it’s going to affect miles per gallon, but I really don’t care because it’s a truck.

Agreed, I was just curious what difference the highest grade in my vehicles would do, I did three tank fulls on all three of my rides. If the high octane non ethanol didn’t have an effect then my rides lied to me and the basic math lied to me. At any rate, it is too costly to use in my vehicles. But I do use the 93 non ethanol on my 2 cycles all the time.

To be fair, he did specify "non-ethanol" 91 which if my understanding serves correctly could correlate to better fuel economy.
