Working our way from AZ back to NC. In Monument Valley yesterday. Spectacular. So has been the old truck.

That’s awesome. I drove mine from MD to Montana last year (and back). Not a single issue the whole time. Had so much fun we’re doing it again later this year.

Mine is set up the same way as yours, nice and simple with a bed cap.

On way from base in AZ we hit Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon, then MV, today will be Arches National Park.

Very cool. I was able to mark Monument Valley off my buck list last March after leaving AZ and heading back to TX. It was May 9th (one day before my wife's BD) when I pulled into my driveway. I made a few other stops in UT, CO and NM before crossing the TX state line.
Total time gone was about 12 1/2 weeks and over 4,000 miles on my 07. Should be hitting the road again at the end of this month.

Arches was incredible. Very highly recommended. Looking forward to a return visit there and to the Moab area.

Being on this trip in the winter has no doubt helped our enjoyment as crowds have been light, although today I spent an hour in snow and slush on a 2-lane state highway getting into Durango.

The 2wd Tacoma did great nonetheless, with me being vigilant and gentle with throttle, brake, and steering. The extra weight in the rear was a help too I imagine.

4WD is no match for driving skills.

Back in NC. Round trip miles: 6,474. (Truck has 161,000 total at the moment.) Truck did great in all conditions. Plenty of throttle when I needed it. Handled well in snow, slush, rain, and on forest-service-type roads. All good.
