Oh definitely. I’m in a time battle because I am gonna need to regear soon, but if I spend money on Toyota gears I wouldn’t be able to use them in a ford axle. And have to buy gears all over again. Guess I could sell the 3rd member.

 

You could definitely sell the third for close to what you pay. At least on my coast. What are you thinking for gears (Toyota)? I love 4.88s with my 35s

 

I was thinking 4.88’s as well, I haven’t decided yet. I wanna get some seat time on the stock 3.73’s with the new engine and transmission and see how it feelsz

 

You’ll have the power that it won’t matter as much. Stock 4.0 is a different story. The difference for me was night and day.

 

The new motor is an all low to midrange rpm torque build. Should make well over 500 lb-ft. Maybe I won’t care to get it regeared.

 

Save the cash for the ford gears, lots of full size come with 3.73 and do fine with 35s.

 

Heading over to 454 tomorrow to see if we can vacuum bleed the cooling system. Everything will be done, but my bumper isn’t back from powder coating yet. Super super close. Haven’t driven this truck off road in a year and a half. Man I miss it and I’m so pumped to see how it feels.

 

I feel you on this. It's been from one shop space to another for what feels like forever. Like you, it's super close. Just need to cut the inner fenders off and rebuild/ rebuild the core support/ fab up front and maybe a rear bumper. Then it can go to tuning.

 

I went over to 454 tonight and we got a start on vacuum bleeding. Found a couple areas we need to work on a little more. Will give it a go next weekend.

 

Drive by wire. I’m using a GM pedal.

I don’t see why the Holley couldn’t do cruise control, but as of now no, I don’t have it. But I will be getting it at some point.

Everything is buttoned up and all the leaks are taken care of. tried a vacuum fill and still, we’re running in to the same problem I ran into
Months ago, of not being able to bleed the cooling system. The new system 454 built does not have a full port at the front. In theory, it shouldn’t need one either. We can always add one, but what haven’t we tried? We lifted the rear end of the truck in the air, pulling the return line off engine and filling the block, manually filling the lines, pressurizing the rad to force fluid into the block, vacuum filling by the steam ports. No joy. He’s doing some brain storming tonight and tomorrow.

I don’t even understand why adding the fill port on the “out” of the water pump even worked on the last setup. It doesn’t make sense, but it worked.

Any ideas?

 

StanceWorks on YouTube had a slightly similar issue. With a creative solution. This was on the K24 Ferrari track car that he built. Worthy for you to check it out. I cannot remember which episode though. Just that it was before he took it to Australia.

Uh we just kept letting it run till it got hot and shutting it off then it eventually stopped getting hot. Problem solved?
I drove it home so. Driving it to work. Temp stays right at 205. I have a huge laundry list of shit to do but I’m gonna start breaking in the motor now.

 

This thing is cool.


No leaks, no issues.

My serpentine is hella noisy though. Maybe something else on the accessory drive. But not important.
