Yeah, based on the position, I'll have to be on-site, though remote is an option for some circumstances, etc.
Opportunity for some "field" time as needed, travel, etc.
Really going to boil down to the offer/package at this point.

Well that was a fun second time around:


I just replaced the timing chain and balance shaft chain, since the balance shaft chain was making noise under load (the chain ended up being stretched, causing the noise). Well when I got everything back together, it sounded like my truck had a supercharger! There was a whine at any RPM.

Now that I had to go back in there again to solve the noise (which ended up being the gears that drove one of the balance shafts), I bought LCE's balance shaft delete kit. I wish I did this the first time around! So much simpler under the timing cover!

 

How's the idle? Seem like more vibration?

 

Idle is roughly the same, driving I can feel something in the pedals and steering wheel, but it is very minor (I only have about 5 minutes of seat time, as I was at work for 12 hours wanting to finish this in one day). Honestly, without driving it more, I am not sure why Toyota put balance shafts in the first place, the truck feels exactly the same!

It seemed like such a useful, well thought out plan. I mean, there really isn't anything to see in the area and no tourists ever come to that area of Maine.

Has anybody done the timing belt & wp on a 4.7? My brother just bought a 2007 Tundra and theres no record of it being done within the last 100k

I thought second gen tundys had the 5.7?

 

They came with either the 4.0 V6, 4.7 V8, or the 5.7 V8 in the earlier years. I had thought that too and the entire time my brother was talking I thought he was talking about a first gen.

I would make a new mount but all the other mounts are crusty so its not worth it. I wouldnt be able to axle swap it for a few years so I dont think I could get away with a ugly white yard ornament for a few years. Oh well.

 

Yeah, have you done one before? Easy enough for a home job?

 

probably to late, but that sounds like the radar sensor is dirty or something to that effect.
