Who replaced their needle bearing with clamshell bushing

    Bilstein 5100, Trail edition wheels, 265/70/17 Falkens
    I replaced mine about 30k ago. Similar symptoms as others. Highly highly recommend spending the money to get the puller or rent.

    Looks like a needle bearing to me.
    The only way the needle bearing would cause you to loose 4WD would be to come apart and lockup the front axle.
    And that's not at all likely to ever happen.

    There's a whole lot of play around the outer seal. And rattling inside there. Is is possible to replace the the bearing inside the axle assembly. I've never messed with a 4wd until recently cause of where I live. I'll take any advice on a diagnoses

    Well, a whole lot could mean many things.
    A brand new truck has play in the axle at the seal.
    And if one didn't know any better they'd say it was a lot.

    But to answer oy question, yes you can replace the bearing with it int the differential.
