Nah, didn't get to that luckily. Started to feel extremely underpowered and constant white exhaust. It was just getting worse n worse. I'll be taking the heads off real soon for proper inspection and I'll know for sure. I needed to get in there anyways and change out all my gaskets: exhaust, intake, valve, everything really. Gonna clean everything up and get all new hoses and some parts like engine mounts, trans mounts. Whatever else I can do to improve the truck. Headers were overdue for new gaskets, supercharger probably doesn't need a rebuild but just a good oil change on it.

Hm, I’d be interested to see if the heads
cracked. I’m surprised that you had that failure without overheating it first.

There were definitely odd circumstances around that event besides the loose nut that holds the wheel.

yeah doing crazy things like basic maintenance seems way too hard, never mind modifying suspension or doing engine swaps

Doesn't it usually lean the other way - gas tank on the LH side?!

These dang rust free socal trucks just makes me so sad to look at my rust bucket. Speaking of, patched another rust hole this morning. Think I'm finally ready to prep for paint and seam sealing.

    IMG_8367.HEIC.jpg

Also learned today that the cavity the body mount is in is sealed from the cab with a plug but is open to the elements on the bottom of the truck via a tiny 1/2" hole. So a great spot for water and salt to gather and stay in to rust.

Since putting the bed rack and tent on the rear end has been a bit saggy, I pulled my OME leaf packs out and put in a middle leaf I pulled out originally to make the ride softer.

Installed some spacers to lift the front of these trailcats. The Corbeau brackets sit a bit lower than the oem ones do which I don’t like even with the desert does it seat jackers as you can see. They feel MUCH better now.
    Hardware I got:
    M8-1.00 nylon lock nut
    3/8x1/2x1 stainless steel spacer
    M8x1.00x50 socket head cap screw
(Ignore my amp wires that I’m too lazy to hide better)

I made my Scion seat brackets a little to high. I am afraid that if I lower the rear that I will feel like I am sitting in a hole and end up with too much pressure on the front of my legs. The front cannot go any lower. I also added one inch of high quality foam and heating elements to the seats, so that makes it even worse.

I got this 2002 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner from my father in law he put 235,000 on it. He decided to buy him a new Tacoma. I went a head and took the bedliner out it was scratching the paint. Went through it put in all led lighting and replaced all the lenses. Upgraded the speakers and head unit. Replaced all the gaskets on the fender flares. All new belts, water pump and timing belt. Replaced spark plugs and wires. K&N cold air intake. Got plans to replace the ac compressor clutch it's noisy already replaced idler pulley also need to put new valve cover gasket on it. I have the parts just trying to get some time to put them on. It's a clean 22 year old truck.

Super sweet. Nice work and nice truck. Have an '04 4x4 3.6L with about 167,000 miles, bedrug and snugtop shell painted to match in '04 fairly mint. Needs valve cover gaskets but tightened them up recently and stopped seepage. Did the lenses too with Eagle Eyes headlights to replace the fogged ones. Did the AC compressor too at one point. Not hard if you get someone to evac and refill. Got an Denso compressor and drier on Amazon IIRC for a good price ($185 and $22).

Denso NEW AC COMPRESSOR, Model: 4711223 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001UCGHSQ

    Denso 478-0500 Receiver Drier https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000IWLAEA

But it looks like you could buy reman compressor at discount from Toyota for about $282 if you prefer.

Or looks like Rockauto has a Denso for the '02 for about $200 and driers from $6-14.

(Just reread you have parts already but will leave this info here in case it helps someone else).

Is the radiator original? Got a Denso and swapped that it in too when the original failed at the tank seam.

Not much else needed besides regulars like timing belt, pads and rotors. But do have the LH lean so might go after that at some point.
