Apron, radiator support, door? There's a bit of stuff to repair. Is there actually no frame damage?

That's at least a $14000 truck out here. Call them back to tell them you finally quit laughing.

How well kept was the truck? That plays a lot to market value. Not just maintenance but the paint, interior etc?

I had a 2008 sr5 that ended up totaled in 2014 the Insurance company told me they would give me 5k I laughed at them on the phone. I sent them every similar truck I could find with similar mileage and they ended up going up to 10k. I’d look on any car sales pages and find similar trucks and send them all to them. Hopefully they come up. Glad everyone is ok!

Find a few listings of 4-cyl Tacos of similar year and mileage and send them to the insurance co.

I'm fixing and keeping this truck one way or the other....it's to expensive not to honestly.

    So it begins.

Got it back to my house and I started ripping it apart. Slight tweak to the corner of the frame but nothing I'm worried about (I will be keeping this truck until it truly is dead.

Now that I most of the sheet metal out of the way I'm first going to fix the suspension/steering components so I can get it driving again. Then I'll I have to worry about s the body components.

    PXL_20240201_232748606.MP.jpg

Obviously from the photo we see I'll need a new frame support rail, new core support and new inner fender.

Once I replace the required suspension components (knuckle, CV shaft, hub....maybe control arms?) Then I'll start with the rest of it.

I'll bet a good body shop could pull most of that straight.

So pricing components out on Rock auto...anyone have any particular brands I should avoid? I am using the estimate from the shop it was towed to for a list of what all to replace. So far, just talking suspension, I will have to replace The complete Hub assembly, the knuckle, and the stabilizer link. Oddly enough they didn't say anything about replacing my control arms so I suppose I may be alright there (crazy as both wheels were pointed in two different directions.

    EDIT:
Never mind....I didn't flip the page over where I saw the lower control arm listed, sway bar link, hub assembly, and rack and pinion listed.....

So i figured while I have the entire thing apart, I'll likely replace some other components while I am at it. Since I have to get a new radiator...what are the recommendations out there for radiators and new water pumps. I figure my water pump will give up the ghost here in the next few 20k miles anyway....mine as well get ahead of the power curve and avoid a potential overheat situations.

I wonder how your rack and pinion held up under the impact? Imagine there was quite a bit of stress on it and wondering if it could be bent or leaking now? Did you have a good look at that to see if there's any oil leaking out probably under the boots.

Not really certain what you mean by that. My intention is to replace the parts that are bent and or damaged.

    PXL_20240413_194214325.jpg Suspension complete:

    New Rack and pinion
New tie rod ends (both inner and outer on both sides)
    New lower control arm
New upper control arm and through bolt
    New steering knuckle
    New power steering lines
New sway bar link (passenger side only)
    New bearing/hub assembly
    New CV half shaft
New Bilstein 8 5100 shocks (went for a bit of upgrade as I am going to armor up a bit)

Additionally after I bent the tabs back for the control arm cam bolts I ran a line of.bead behind them to reinforce and strengthen them... figured the bending back and forth (even though I used heat) probably weakened them a bit, the bead of weld should help a lot.

Next is to make space in and roll it into the garage and get to work on the body.

Gotta get finished buy June.... moving soon.

Please share details about the circumstances of the accident.

Who or what did you hit, or ran into you? Deer? Vehicle? Day? Night?
How fast were you & they going? Etc. etc.

This helps to give context to the level of damage & whether or not a heavy full-coverage plate bumper with hoops may/may not have reduced or even prevented most of the damage.
