This is so funny I am driving around my 10 day old tacoma using the knob on the radio and going "Why did they make that volume on the steering wheel that way. That is wrong. Volume UP or DOWN!! not left right.." Then I made a note to myself. "Im going to have to search TW. It cannot be that hard to change that." It is funny. was doing a 100 mile ride trying to get to 500 miles before I tow my camper friday. That was on my mind for like 20 minutes. Of course there is a post on TW and OF COURSE there is a kit to fix it.

WHAT is that button panel on the left side of the wheel. I WANT IT! I need more button space (not yet but I will when I put a roll bar with lights)

Haha glad I could help. It's taken someone since 2016 to finally make a fix for it and it's glorious. The switch panel is a custom made one also from MESO to allow for the maximum amount of factory style switches and I'm running AOB switches as they match the best (not perfect but better than CH4x4) with CaliRaisedLed daisy chain harnesses for the illumination. Had to Dremel out a fair amount of plastic from the dash in order to get the panel and all the switches to fit, but not a big deal. MESO only makes them a few times a year, but I've seen other sellers on Etsy that make them as well.

Thanks man I just found the thread where it listed your mods. My Boss has a expensive 3D printer. I might pick his brain about it. Because If that panel is 130 I could easily start cranking them out. Dutch Tacoma Mods LLC here we go. :) I like that you included all these other LITTLE things too. My truck is 10 days old and fixing these little annoyances has been important for me. Threads like yours inspire me. Im also posting tiny mods I am doing. People keep liking them and asking more about it so that is good.

Good deal man! All cars have little quirks that need fixing but some of the ones on these trucks are just baffling. Really liking my truck now, but it took a while to get there.

Picked up a 30" Baja Designs S8 light bar a few weeks ago during the huge 21% off sale at Showstoppers and wired it up this weekend. Mounted it using the CaliRaisedLed brackets and trimmed the air diversion panels in order to reuse them with the light bar brackets in place. I need to do some tuning to the adjustment and grab a second relay to power the backlight off a second switch (BD has their switch configured to send power thru the switch which I don't want to do with a push-button style switch), but it fits really clean and subtle and is super bright. Hopefully I'll have time to adjust it soon.

Added nutserts for the brackets to thread into. The air diversion panels are attached with plastic clips here from the factory, but I thought it should be beefed up now that it's supporting the top of the light bar mounts. It was a nightmare trying to use a loose nut and bolt to secure this with the panels installed, so this was a perfect application for nutsert. Now it is quick and easy to service should I need to in the future:

And a shot of the bar with the air diversion panels installed.

The Taco build is almost wrapped up and I had an opportunity to grab my attainable dream car, so the truck got a new roommate.

Meet the new 1987 Supra Turbo 5spd w/ targa top.. Oh, and only 69k miles. :headbang:

Been spending most of my time doing Supra stuff lately, but the relay for the S8 backlighting finally showed up so I got that installed this week. I can run the backlight off its own factory-style push switch now.

What beam pattern did you pick on the S8?

Went with the combo one with spot and wide, I forget exactly what they call it, but it's the only combo option.

TY 2k2! Tried to do this right, but it's been getting the short end of the stick since the Supra showed up lol. Good thing it's just about wrapped up.

    Yeah... Pretty awesome.

Your wheels alone swallowed my entire build budget... Nice to see a really neat build like this.

I'm pretty sure my sports car days are done, unless I find myself in the market for a Porsche someday, but I feel you on priorities. My sports car builds always wound up consuming my loot and time over any of my pickups .. until recently.. I actually sold all my vehicles and just bought my truck.

    Good luck

Maaaan I've wanted those wheels for like 20 years, finally got something nice enough to put them on. Want to put a set of the TE37V mk-ii's on the A70 too once I finish paying it off. Since it's in its forever home, I think I'm going to collect wheels for that car. The Taco build was a pain the ass and fought me every step of the way, but it came out really good and I absolutely love my truck now.

Been a while since I did anything to the truck since the build is pretty much finished now. But it was time for an oil change again at 8500 miles so I got to throw on the metal filter housing assembly and Fumoto F-133 that I've had in the garage for a year or so along with some fresh Mobil1 0w20 and a TRD filter. Hoping the Fumoto makes the future changes less messy with the TRD skid.

The P/N for the metal housing is 15620-31060 and was pnp and did not require making any changes.

I'm about to do the exact same on my next oil change. Happy to hear it wasn't so complicated

Wasn't bad at all. Didn't even need to remove the skid to install the Fumoto. Was a little difficult to get a huge 19mm box wrench in to tighten the valve but nothing worth complaining about. When tightened the valve position on mine faced the front of the truck. Also sits a good inch or so above the skid plate, if not more, so should not have to worry about it ever getting damaged. So far no leaks but I'll keep an eye on it for a few days to make sure it's happy.

Installed the borla Y-pipe a couple days ago, made a big difference in droning with the stromung catback. Noticeable difference in acceleration.

Noticed this also. Bigger pipe diameter w\ less restrictions = slower exhaust flow into the muffler. Seemed like it had a little deeper tone as well, was a nice change audibly. Nice power increase higher up in the rpm band too.
