I recently purchased a 2017 Tacoma TRD 4WD and love the truck. I tow a boat, and when backing up to hook up, the camera shows the color bars indicating how close I am getting to the trailer and the beeper sounds more urgently in the process. My truck does not have the switch to turn off the beeper in the locations listed in the manual. Do some of these models actually not have that switch but still have the park assist system? It's annoying to back up to boat ramp with beeping going crazy!

    welcome!
Look at your dash and manual again. If there is no switch, check build from Toyota, maybe aftermarket?

Post a picture of your lower dash.

Some people get weird with switches, where if they install something aftermarket they will tape up a switch they don't use and stuff it behind the dash. Its not something I approve of, but Ive noticed that a number of people here will do this.

Maybe the previous owner got weird with your truck??

What button do you have in the 3rd slot from the left in the picture in post #2? Could be the previous owner removed the Parking Assist on/off button to put another button in its place. Parking Assist could now be always on.

This is certainly a new one……who knows what the previous owner could have done

The switches from left to right are : ECT PWR, (switch to turn on phone charger below), USB/straight cable hookup, and lastly on right the cigar-type 12 volt socket.

Sounds like original owner removed the switch.
Didn’t think it would operate without the switch…….weird stuff

Maybe tucked the switch behind the dash still wired up, to make room for the other switch?

Dude! I know the Nokia 3310 is indestructible, but it's time to retire it for the sake of better photo quality.

Seriously though, no one is going to be able to see those switches in that photo.

I think you posted thumbnail vs full image. I can't make out details in the picture.

Now I'm really confused, because thats the panel layout for no tech (No BSM/No rear sonar). Looks exactly like my old 2016. ... And it's beeping like there's sonar??

Screen in upper right looks like an aftermarket headunit (blue glow above the volume knob). Could truck have an aftermarket backup radar?

I looked for that too. Looks like the stock premium (not JBL) HU to me.

Judging by the panel layout compared to my 2017 it doesn’t look to have the tech package with the parking assist. Most likely an aftermarket kit

    Yeah.
This is an odd one. I can't tell from the thumbnail, but that panel seems to have way fewer switches than mine and no blanks. Did the parking assist sensors only come with a tech package?

but the OP says he’s getting the beeping while backing with a trailer. So he has to have the system……just no off switch?

I do not have the tech package and my ECT button is under the mirror defrost. Looks like yours is moved over to the left one
