Lunar Rock Gen III Thread

Well picked this up today. 2023 lunar trd offroad. Level with 33. Love it

 

An addition for use when exploring. I've added load bars to the smart cap. I used 3 of them for support off-road mostly + better load bearing to match the smart cap capacity - even though I am not a fan of carryng anything heavy on top while moving...

I also used one size larger (longer) than that suggested for the taco smart cap and the tips clear the open cap doors without issue.. (1255mm)

The purpose is to expand cargo capacity / space to use when camping for more than a day or two. (And to be able to carry larger things with the cap on... e.g. my wife wanted to take this large framed 'thing' to her office - I mostly wanted it out of the garage!).

These bars will support my Mesh rack which I like due to its low profile (aerodynamic), light weight, quiet-ness, and great availability of attachment points.

I've used on other vehicles back in AUS. Perhaps it is not the best choice for the 'gram, but I really like how well these types of rack do their job.

It fits the taco and the cap very well fortunately - it overhangs just a bit over the cab and clears all cap doors when open.
(I do not want a rack over the cab).

I did do a test fit with the mesh rack on the bars, but I failed to take a picture...

The bars will not be on the cap permanently. I'll leave the 'L' brackets and install the bars (and the mesh rack only when actually needed.


I'm am thinking I may get a narrow thule cargo box for additional locked storage - to store bedding, clothes, and other light stuff on one side of the rack leaving the other side open for other things - maybe.
